In his cowardly attempt to avoid answering questions about the role he played in pushing draconian COVID mandates on the American people, Anthony Fauci has instead opened the modern-day Pandora's box known as the "Streisand Effect."
The Streisand Effect is the "phenomenon in which an attempt to censor, hide, or otherwise draw attention away from something only serves to attract more attention to it." And Fauci has just spawned his own version of this phenomenon by clamming up and repeatedly pleading the Fifth when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs last month.
He may have been under the misapprehension that his silence would bring an end to his story, but his story is being told – in a big and heartbreaking way – by the families who suffered the most because of his malfeasance.
This happened the night before he was due to give testimony, when users on X shared the human cost of Fauci's folly. Perhaps sensing the disgraced doctor would not be forthcoming, families shared stories of saying goodbye to dying parents on Zoom and frail parents having human contact reduced to a wave through the window.

And it happened again Monday following the revelation that texts show Fauci, back in 2021, had recommended pregnant women get a second dose of the COVID vaccine despite his personal misgivings. From Rusty Weiss's reporting at RedState:
In it, the former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) director discusses concerns about COVID-19 mRNA vaccines for pregnant women with former Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky and former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy.
In the January 25th to 26th, 2021 exchange, Fauci himself noted that the second dose of the COVID vaccine “theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester” because of the strong fever and cytokine response it often triggered.
After Fox News' Bill Melugin shared news of the texts that were found on Fauci's COVID-era iPhone, his followers started sharing heart-wrenching stories of women who heeded Fauci's advice about the second vaccine, but ended up with serious health consequences. Some women even lost their babies.

BREAKING: Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) releases text obtained from Dr. Fauci’s phone that shows Fauci expressing concern in January 2021 that the second dose of a COVID vaccine could potentially be “associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester” in conversation with Biden era CDC Director Rochelle Walensky & Surgeon General Vivek Murthy.
"DeplorableTris2" told Melugin: "My daughter took the 1st 2 shots to keep her job. She had 2 miscarriages in the 1st trimester. 1 in 2023, and another in 2024. Fortunately she had my granddaughter in 2025."
"Cross12632049" shared: "My daughter had to get the shot bc she worked at a hospital. She wasn't pregnant at the time but shortly thereafter became pregnant with her 3rd child. At 32 weeks she had a stillbirth-- cause of death was a blood clot in the umbilical cord...umbilical thrombosis. Connection?"
And "PaulaJo4GOP" revealed: "Have a friend who was working as a delivery nurse during Covid. The head of Obstetrics said he has never seen so many stillbirths in addition to the miscarriages. Beyond demonic!!"
Now, there's no way of knowing how many, if any, of these stories can be directly tied to the COVID vaccine, but it certainly warrants further investigation.
Fauci may have thought pleading the Fifth would let him slink off into retirement without answering for the wreckage he left behind, but every time he refuses to talk, somebody else does – and every story told makes him look even worse.
Fauci may have wanted silence, but what he’s getting is a reckoning – one story at a time. And, of course, the Department of Justice is weighing criminal charges against him, so that peaceful retirement of his dreams may soon turn into a nightmare.
