The downfall of Dr. Anthony Fauci was a long time coming, but many Americans are now applauding its arrival.
As the petty tyrant, who masqueraded for years as an infectious disease expert, faces a Wednesday hearing before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, social media users are laying bare the heartbreaking consequences of the COVID king's reign – and they're absolutely demolishing whatever remains of Fauci's reputation.
It all began with a tweet from our Townhall colleague, Dustin Grage, who posted a stark reminder of what so many families had to endure when hospitals and nursing homes banned visitors.

"He is at peace." "We are so sorry." Can you imagine that being your loved one whose passing is recorded on Post It notes and coldly adhered to a hospital window by what appear to be alien lifeforms? Absolutely appalling.
Grage's post prompted others to share their experiences of heartbreak and loss during the early years of the pandemic, when Fauci had far too much say over how we Americans lived our lives. The thread is a bleak reminder of a time many of us would rather forget, but these families can't escape the memories of what happened to their cherished family and friends.

One user recounted how, bizarrely, he was unable to be by his grandmother's side as she died – he had to watch through a window – but was invited in to say goodbye to her body after she had passed.
I stood outside and basically watched my grandmother die through a window. Yet I could waltz right in after she died to say goodbye. I’ll never forget what they did. Another shared how a hospital forced him to say his final goodbye to his dying mother over Zoom.
I was FORCED to say goodbye to my mother over Zoom. ZOOM.
The hospital said I couldn't visit her in her final moments. I would have crossed a galaxy to be by her side and they refused to let me.
I don't know which side is right in the debate and I don't care. If we lose our humanity we are already lost and dead anyways.
These two stories just scratch the surface of what was revealed in Grage's thread – countless deaths over Zoom calls and Facetime, families being turned away at hospital doors, and the only human contact allowed the elderly was touching hands on opposite sides of a window. Heartbreaking.

All of this, of course, stings even more when many of the same health care workers who kept you away from your sick or dying loved one also happily patted themselves on the back for being "front line workers" and celebrated that achievement by recording goofy TikTok dance videos. From inside that same hospital you weren't allowed to enter.
It's hard to believe now that we put up with this callousness, but it will never happen again. Much like flight 93 on 9/11 made darn sure Americans never again experience a hijacking attempt without putting up a fight, Anthony Fauci single-handedly has ensured that we'll never cede power to an unelected villain (and elected villains aren't exempted from this sentiment, either) over cold and flu symptoms.
The big question that remains is this: will Fauci fess up to his vainglorious misdeeds in front of the Senate, or will he take the coward's way out and plead the Fifth?
