New York Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) has never seen a new tax or regulation she didn't love. She wants to hike taxes on every American with a net worth that's in positive territory to pay for her laundry list of free Schiff. That's "democratic socialism" in a nutshell, and she and her ilk's agendas would require a major rewrite of the nation's economy.
That's disturbing enough in its own right. It's more disturbing when we note that AOC is apparently no good at managing her own personal economy. Turns out that the Bronx condo she lived in before and during her first Congressional campaign relied on the Bank of Mom for the property taxes.
Oh, and the Bank of Mom was located in low-tax Florida.
Democratic Socialist champion Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has continuously advocated for a higher tax burden, including on poorer Americans and the middle class, via taxes they would be required to pay to fund a universal Medicare plan.
But a review of public records undertaken by the Crimson Hub shows that even when Ocasio-Cortez was taking a salary from her campaign during the 2018 cycle when she was first elected to Congress, property tax bills for the condo AOC occupied in the Bronx were not being billed to the soon-to-be congresswoman.
Now, we might note that it's hard to blame AOC's mom for following parental instinct here. For most people, there's nothing we wouldn't do for our kids, and if one of our kids needs help, we help them. But most of our kids aren't advocating to rewrite the nation's economy while simultaneously having trouble adulting.
In fact, those bills were being sent to the celebrity politician’s mother, who remained legally responsible for them. That indicates that even while paying herself out of campaign donors’ money, AOC was relying on the bank of Mom to cover her costs.
At the time of her first campaign, AOC was close to thirty—despite becoming the youngest-ever female Member of Congress when sworn into office in 2019.
Close to 30, though, and Mom still paying her property taxes?

AOC has since moved into a swanky apartment with her boyfriend, and her brother occupies that Bronx condo. Mom's still paying those property taxes. And, about that brother:
Like his sister, Gabriel is an avowed anti-capitalist who founded an arts organization “supporting the deaf queer community.”
Despite having reported a $4,597 per month salary as a housing specialist at Samaritan Daytop Village in Briarwood, NY, back in 2022, he declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy—making him another Ocasio-Cortez kid who manifestly has lived beyond his means.
The deaf queer community? All six of them? That's strangely specific, but the brother isn't wielding any political power. He is, like his sister, just no good at adulting.
This always seems to be the way with the left. We might perhaps give AOC some reluctant credit for not cashing in on her position in Congress to the degree that some Democrat politicians (Nancy Pelosi) have shamelessly done. But honestly, before we entrust the nation's checkbook to any elected official, shouldn't we first require that they have their own financial house in order?
The Constitution, of course, places no such requirement on candidates for the House of Representatives. The Constitution requires only that the candidate be 25 years old, a citizen for seven years, and a resident of the state for which they are being elected at the time of their election. There's nothing in there about the candidate being required to demonstrate any proficiency at basic life skills, like managing to pay one's taxes. You'd expect the voters to check that for themselves, but this is New York's 14th Congressional District, which would elect a stuffed armadillo to Congress if it carried a "D" behind its name.
AOC, though, wants to completely reshape the nation's economy. And she was in her 30s and a member of Congress before being able to stop relying on the Bank of Mom. What a fine how'dya do.
