Good morning, and welcome to RedState's "Morning Minute" — a brief glimpse at which stories are trending at the moment and a look ahead at what the day may bring. Consider this your one-stop shop for news to kickstart your day.
TOP O' THE MORNIN'
Red-Hot at RedState
Nobody celebrates Renee Nicole Good's death, but it's becoming abundantly clear that she could have and should have avoided engaging in an aggressive way with the ICE agents, but she let her radical views cloud any good judgment she may have possessed. Once again, the old adage "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" plays out before our very eyes.

Now it's time for CSM Lodging to go one step further and turn this individual in to the FBI so they can give him or her a mugshot, a perp walk, and the Department of Justice can mount a speedy trial. If there are not swift consequences for these evil actions, the unhinged factions will only keep upping the ante.
Operation Absolute Resolve, China’s Strategic Predicament in Latin America, and What Comes Next
The timing was not a coincidence. It sent a clear message to Xi about U.S. military capabilities and Washington’s resolve to defend its interests in LAC and beyond. It’s another proverbial nail in the coffin of the narrative that President Trump is a staunch non-interventionist or isolationist.

Fifth Circuit’s Ruling on Felon Firearm Possession: Implications for Nonviolent Offenders
As anticipated following the Bruen decision, this ruling reflects a growing judicial emphasis on individual rights. Courts across the country are reevaluating various gun laws through this historical lens, from prohibitions on certain firearms to restrictions on carry permits and is helping to ensure lifelong penalties are not imposed lightly without constitutional justification.
Megyn Kelly Endorses Candace Owens 'Investigation,' And Calls Nick Fuentes 'Very Smart'
Rejecting Nick Fuentes should be easy. Scoffing at Candace Owens' insane musings should be easy.
Megyn Kelly is not being victimized, as she suggests. She is being chastised for choosing to promote dangerous and nutty theories.
Here’s What Dems Don’t Want You to Know About the Woman Who Attacked ICE Agents
Leftists are trying to gaslight the public about what happened. They want to cause riots, which is why we need to make sure the facts are out there before they inspire more violence.
The woman was armed with a 3,000-pound weapon, and this was a justified shooting. It’s astounding how little liberals know of the law or—you know—physics, because the tragic case of Officer Amy Caprio is the reason why law enforcement will shoot you if you try to run them over.
There's a joke about protesters agitating ICE and all we got is this lousy whistle to be made here.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
No meetings or hearings on the Hill on Friday, but Thursday was a busy day for the critters.

White House What's Up
At 11:00 AM Eastern, President Trump will participate in a meeting with Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the Oval Office. At 1:00 PM, he'll have lunch with Vice President JD Vance in the Oval Dining Room. Then, at 2:30 PM, he'll participate in a meeting with oil and gas executives in the Cabinet Room. After that, he's set to travel to Palm Beach, Florida, for the weekend.
Speaking of Vice President Vance, he joined the White House press briefing on Thursday and had a few choice words for the media.

MORNING MUSING
We've heard of the 48-hour or 72-hour rule — that idea that it's wise to wait until the dust settles/smoke clears at least somewhat before jumping to conclusions, really on anything, but in particular, when it comes to highly charged situations. Now, obviously, as a media outlet, RedState is going to report news as it happens. (And we do our utmost to make sure our reporting is accurate, even as information and stories evolve.) Same goes for NewsTalkSTL and our radio coverage.
But I'm referring primarily to social media. There's this impulse to comment on anything and everything — I get it. I'm not immune to it either. But there's an abundance of "hot takes" that clearly derive from incomplete (or inaccurate) information, emotion, and mob mentality. You name the story, you'll find more opinions than anyone knows what to do with.
We had a listener call into the show this morning and ask some questions about the shooting incident involving Renee Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Reading between the lines of his questions, he was skeptical of the actions taken by the ICE agent(s). But he was asking fair questions, seeking additional information, rather than giving us his opinion. And it struck me how much better our conversations would go if people would take the time (and possess the humility) to seek more information and try to glean a fuller understanding of the situation before racing to their socials to let everyone know their opinion.
