Shockingly enough, the Biden White House’s Thursday announcement that Joe Biden was set to finally visit the southern border during his trip to Mexico for the so-called “Three Amigos Summit” has had the mainstream media pressing for details the administration has so far been reluctant to give.
One tidbit we recently learned that shines an unflattering light on Joe Biden’s trip is that downtown El Paso has reportedly been “sanitized” ahead of his visit, with the migrant encampments that had previously cropped up being quietly moved out of sight. This has led to more speculation that Biden’s pit stop in El Paso will be an epic photo op flop, much like his “border czar” Kamala Harris’ trip to El Paso in June 2021 was.
And speaking of flops, Dept. of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was asked on CNN about why it has taken Biden so long to visit the border. His answer was an insult to the intelligence of all Americans for reasons I’ll get to in a minute:
CNN: “Why has it taken two years for President Biden to go to the southern border?”
Biden’s Sec. of Homeland Security: “He’s going to see the border not for the first time in his public service career.”

Biden himself has made a similar claim before, during an October 2021 CNN town hall:
“I’ve been there before and I haven’t — I mean, I know it well. I guess I should go down. But the whole point of it is I haven’t had a whole hell of a lot of time to get down.”
BIDEN ON THE BORDER: "I guess I should go down, but the whole point of it is I haven’t had a whole hell of a lot of time to get down. I’ve been spending time going around looking at the $900 billion damage done by hurricanes and floods and weather and traveling around the world." pic.twitter.com/mgWLxvf36d

Except Joe Biden has never visited the southern border in his entire political career, despite him and other officials lying about it multiple times.
The closest he’s ever come to visiting the border was in October 2008. As the Washington Post explained in a fact check of sorts after the town hall, Biden’s “visit” was actually a mere drive-by as he was on his way to a campaign stop in New Mexico:
But after digging some more, we discovered that Biden briefly drove past the border while on a campaign swing in 2008.
On Oct. 17, he held a rally in Mesilla, N.M. The press officer on the trip, David E. Wade, told The Fact Checker that the plane landed at the El Paso airport and then the motorcade took the nearly one-hour drive to the suburb of Las Cruces. The drive took Biden along a route that for a few minutes hugs the border of the United States and Mexico. “For most of us, it was unfamiliar territory,” Wade said, who recalled that some reporters joked about crossing the border during the event.
Incredibly, then-White House press secretary Jen Psaki laughably claimed at the time that Biden’s El Paso “drive-by” constituted a “visit to the border.”
The clown show just never ends with this administration when it comes to illegal immigration, whether we’re talking about lies told by Mayorkas, Harris, or Biden. And sadly, it’s border states that are paying the price.
Next to the Afghanistan debacle, his handling (or lack thereof) of the unprecedented border surge will go down in presidential history as his greatest political failure.
