We reported last night on President Joe Biden’s disaster of a “town hall” event that took place in Baltimore and which was hosted by longtime CNN anchor and noted Democrat apologist Anderson Cooper.
The town hall, which was “invitation-only“, was Biden’s third one on the network in a year’s time, and in addition to quite literally mocking freedom, one of his more eye-opening answers was when he was asked by Cooper if he planned on visiting the southern border. For those who missed it, here was Biden’s answer:
“I’ve been there before and I haven’t – I mean, I know it well. I guess I should go down. But the whole point of it is I haven’t had a whole hell of a lot of time to get down. I’ve been spending time going around looking at the $900 billion worth of damage done by – by hurricanes and floods and weather and traveling around the world. But, I plan on — now, my wife Jill has been down. She’s been on both sides of the river. She’s seen the circumstances there. She’s looked into those places.”
Biden’s claim that he has “been there before” came as a surprise to pretty much everyone, considering there was no record of him ever making an actual stop at the border during his 40+ year political career.
Today during the White House press briefing, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, who had pressed Biden press secretary Jen Psaki last month on if Biden had ever visited the border, asked her about his comments from last night. Psaki’s first response was to note that he “drove through the border” one time in 2008 while on the campaign trail, as though that is considered “visiting” the border in their view. She compounded the ridiculous answer by then saying that “he does not need a visit to the border to know what a mess was left by the last administration.”
As you’ll see from the clip below, her spin just made it so much worse:
Doocy: "I want to follow up on something else the president said last night. Why did president Biden say he's been to the border.
Psaki: Well, Peter, as you may have seen, there's been reporting that he did drive through the border when he was on the campaign trail in 2008." pic.twitter.com/0pPtu2oneC

When Doocy again asked Psaki about the claim, her response was to deflect to “root causes”:
Doocy: "Does that count as a visit? He said, 'I've been there before.' You're saying he drove by for a few minutes. Does that count?"
Psaki: "What is the root cause? Where are people coming from who are coming to the border, Peter? I'm asking a question." pic.twitter.com/njPq0CIP21

As for Biden’s claim about First Lady Jill Biden’s visit, CNN pseudo-fact checker Daniel Dale predictably tried to ride to the rescue on her “visit” as well as Biden’s by suggesting his comments “need context.” As it turns out, Jill Biden’s visit was in December 2019 during Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.
The point of nailing Biden down on his lies about visiting the border? Because in making the “misleading” claim, he’s getting people to assume that he’s in touch and in tune with what’s happening and actively working to get the issue under control. Jen Psaki’s answers today where she doubled down on behalf of Biden make the White House seem even more out of touch, as a 2008 drive-by by Joe and a 2019 campaign pit stop by Jill do not constitute expertise and knowledge about the current crisis, the blame for which can be laid squarely at the feet of Joe Biden himself.
Making matters worse? An even more out of touch (as if that was even humanly possible) “border czar” Kamala Harris, who at last check has apparently solved the border crisis and has now moved on to her “new role” of resolving the “climate crisis.”
We are truly a nation right now where the lights are on at the White House but nobody’s home. It’s really frightening to think about, but at least we can thank God we’re no longer subjected to mean tweets. Silver linings and all that.
