If you listen to the drivel from Capitol Hill Democrats, left-wing lapdog media outlets, and other dishonest partisan hacks, you’d think Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. is the greatest thing since sliced bread or at least one of the most effective presidents in U.S. presidential history, save for Barack Obama, of course.
However, as the old idiom suggests, money talks, and BS walks.
And in the world of presidential politics, no money is more important than that from big-money donors.
Despite the left’s continuing lies about Biden’s leadership, “accomplishments,” likeability, and other such nonsense, when it comes to early fundraising events, three words tell the story: Nobody is coming.
Even left-wing Politico appears to be freaking out:
As the president sets out for the customary end-of-quarter haul, with a big swing of fundraising events through America’s big-money alcoves, a concern has crept in.
In interviews with more than a dozen bundlers and donors across the country in recent weeks, as well as late-arriving pleas reviewed by West Wing Playbook, people have expressed nervousness that early fundraisers aren’t delivering as they’d hoped.
Sure, they reason, it’s hard in the off-year when you don’t have an opponent to tear into. There will be plenty of time to ensure the future of democracy continues apace.
But while the campaign believes its operation is in a good place, others in its orbit are anxious.
And anxious they should be — Bigly.
From Biden’s toilet-bowl ratings to continuing inflation to the intentionally caused never-ending surge of illegal aliens to monstrous ethical problems, why in the hell would presumably intelligent big-money donors throw wads of money at this guy this early? Moreover, nothing is ever buck-passing Joe’s fault — and even some in the so-called “mainstream” media now call out Biden on a regular basis, not to mention his clueless White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre.
“Two people who sent out a flurry of invites for fundraising events in California this week” told Politico they received only “single-digit responses.” An email from one fundraiser trumpeted “Limited Reduced Price Tickets” for Biden’s Monday event in upper-class Atherton, California, and the person who forwarded the email was among those who refused to buy a ticket.
Again, is it any wonder?
An Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll in April found that roughly half of Democrats didn’t want Biden to run again in 2024, while 73 percent of all respondents opposed his reelection bid. While roughly 80 percent of Democrats said they’d support the embattled president in the election, 40 percent said they’d “definitely” vote for him, with an equal percentage saying only they “probably” would.
The question is if Biden falters even worse — physically, mentally, or otherwise — will the “Anybody but Biden” cry among Democrat voters grow even louder? Toss in rising Democrat Party concerns about the campaign of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his early poll results among Biden voters, and clearly, 80-year-old Joe Biden — who’ll be 82 on Inauguration Day 2025 — is far from a sure bet for donors.
The Bottom Line
In the end, if Biden hangs on and captures the Democrat nomination, the money will be there, even from nervous donors who’ll hold their noses while scratching big checks. As jittery as Democrats are about their embattled standard-bearer, the mere thought of Donald Trump — assuming he wins the Republican nomination — returning to the White House is the stuff of nightmares for the TDS-riddled left.
