'She's a Trailblazer': Abdul El-Sayed's Endorsement of Ilhan Omar Is the Stuff of Nightmares

"She's a trailblazer,” he gushed. “When you talk about courage... When you talk about the ability to show up when nobody else has the words, find the words, and be willing to say them clearly in the face of power... That's this woman."

Now, if you mean that Ilhan Omar is a “trailblazer” in the sense she is lighting America’s road to becoming a better country on fire, then sure. I’ll give you that one.

But if you mean that she is leading the way toward a brighter future… I’m going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on that one.

Omar was one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress, along with Rashida Tlaib (MI-12). Rather than use their elevated platform as an opportunity to detract from negative stereotypes about Muslims, both are flamethrowing ideologues who have railed against the United States, pushed antisemitic tropes, and stoked social division.

Ilhan Omar, in addition, is the first Somali-American — and the first African refugee — to be elected to Congress. She is also the first congresswoman to wear a hijab on the House floor.

Here are a few other examples of her “trailblazing":

Before entering Congress, she tweeted, “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.” Omar later apologized for not fully disavowing her statement.

At a town hall with Tlaib in 2019, she attacked Jewish-Americans for alleged “dual loyalty.”

She said, “Our democracy is built on debate, Congresswoman! I should not be expected to have allegiance/pledge support to a foreign country in order to serve my country in Congress or serve on committee. The people of the 5th elected me to serve their interest. I am sure we agree on that!”

This accusation is beyond ironic since Omar was nearly censured over her statements suggesting that she was representing the interests of Somalia while serving in the House.

In 2023, she was removed from the Foreign Affairs Committee because of her history of antisemitic and anti-American statements.

Omar outdid herself in 2025 after the brutal public assassination of Charlie Kirk, where she appeared on video calling him a “reprehensible human being,” a “stochastic terrorist,” and implied that he was to blame for his own death.

A vote to censure and strip her of committee assignments failed because of a few Republican defections. Republican Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01) also recommended she be deported back to Somalia.

She is also a “trailblazer” when it comes to corruption. She has been investigated over long-standing claims she married her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in a 2009 civil ceremony in Minnesota for immigration benefits, while in a relationship with Ahmed Hirsi (father of her children; they later legally married and divorced).

Omar has repeatedly denied this as “absolutely false and ridiculous.” Regardless, due to the circumstances of her fleeing Somalia, and her father’s participation in the brutal Islamo-communist regime, as Vice President JD Vance put it, Omar “definitely committed immigration fraud.”

Then there’s the Minnesota fraud scandal. Her fingerprints are all over it.

Ilhan Omar has documented ties to individuals and entities later convicted or charged in Minnesota’s Feeding Our Future fraud scandal. This was a scheme that defrauded federal child nutrition programs of roughly $250 million during the COVID era, primarily through inflated or nonexistent meal claims by nonprofits and associated businesses, many linked to the Somali community.

She has not been charged with any crime related to it, but it was her legislative action that laid the groundwork for the massive corruption scandal. She even held parties and was friendly with the owner of Safari restaurant, which was caught up in the scandal.

Minnesota Democrats initially received about $50,000 in campaign cash linked to the fraudsters, until she and her cohorts were exposed in the fallout. They returned some of the cash.

As if that wasn’t enough, her net worth has skyrocketed while in office, while the Somali refugee bemoans how unjust America is to Muslim immigrants like her.

Omar entered Congress with a low or negative net worth due to student loans, with minimal assets reported in early disclosures. In her 2024 financial disclosure, she reported household assets of $6 million to $30 million.

Nearly all of the value came from ownership stakes held by her husband, Tim Mynett, in two companies: Rose Lake Capital, a venture capital management firm he co-founded, valued at $5 million–$25 million, and the winery eStCru LLC, valued at $1 million–$5 million.

Investigators who turned up the filings questioned how her wealth was accumulated so quickly on a congressional salary and political consulting background. Omar’s office later filed an amended disclosure blaming an “accounting error.” The revised figures showed household assets of roughly $18,000–$95,000 (or up to about $125,000 in related reports), with the businesses’ values listed as zero or none.

Nothing shady about any of that at all.

It makes sense, therefore, that Michigan senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed would endorse Omar and praise her as a “trailblazer.”

He is already out on the campaign trail, hurling incendiary statements, such as that Muslims "hate" Americans, advocating sharia law, backing a 9/11-praising Islamo-communist who supports the ethnic cleansing of whites, and hurling insults at the President of the United States.

In today’s radicalized Democrat Party, he’d fit in just fine.
