Funny How Quiet Ilhan Omar Gets When the Fraud Questions Start

It seems that the fastest way to silence a corrupt politician is to start asking them questions about their (alleged) corrupt activities. Case in point: Minnesota's Democrat/Squad Representative Ilhan Omar (MN-05), who is increasingly suspected of not only knowing about, but possibly having direct ties to the massive fraud being conducted in her state and in her district. Rep. Omar is notoriously vocal; that is, except on this topic. Then she goes very silent indeed.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., refused to engage when asked by Fox News Digital if she would cooperate with the investigation into Minnesota’s "Feeding Our Future" scheme.

The progressive lawmaker is accused of having ties to those involved in the scandal that federal prosecutors say cost taxpayers roughly $250 million. But when asked about her connections, Omar stayed silent.

"Did you ask Minnesota Democrats to block the subpoena for the investigation of feeding our future on the state level?" Omar was asked when confronted in the halls of Congress on Monday, but did not respond.

She then ignored a second question: "Would you cooperate with that subpoena and provide documents if they request it here in the House Oversight Committee?"

Now granted, that's the kind of "gotcha" question that politicians frequently won't answer. But in this case, there's a lot of smoke for there not to be a fire in there somewhere. And here's the zinger: The accused mastermind of the COVID-era meal fraud, which soaked taxpayers to the tune of $250 million, is none other than Aimee Bock, who is currently in the hoosegow awaiting sentencing, after being convicted of fraud in 2025. She is, as the saying goes, singing like a bird, and has implicated Rep. Omar as not only knowing about the fraud, but participating in it by fast-tracking waivers to keep the cash flowing.

The congresswoman’s name came up at least six times in emails and text messages presented as court exhibits in Bock’s 2025 federal trial.

According to Bock, 45, the six email exchanges with Omar were about help with the waivers, after Feeding Our Future reached out to the “Squad” rep’s office.

The waivers opened the floodgates for scores of Somali eateries to join in, like Safari, where Omar herself filmed a promotional video claiming “every day Safari provides 2,300 meals to children and their families” in May 2020. She also held her 2018 election night party there.

Curiouser and curiouser, eh?

Here's the onion:

“A lot of the (meal) sites were working directly with her, being that a lot of the operators were from the same Somali community,” Bock said of Somalia-born Omar.

“There were a lot of people that had been reaching out to her office and staff — and I presume her personally — to work through some of those gaps with the waivers.”

This is what happens when you import thousands of people from a low-trust - scratch that, a zero-trust society, into a high-trust society like the United States. At this point it's hard to see Rep. Omar as anything but corrupt on a scale that would make the Clintons blush, but remember, she is entitled to due process, the same as anyone accused of anything in the USA. Even so, there's an awful lot of smoke.

On Tuesday, Vice President JD Vance indicated that Rep. Omar's immigration and naturalization process is still in question as well:

The post reads:

NEW: VP Vance says "it certainly seems like something fishy is there" when asked about the DOJ's immigration fraud investigation into Squad member Ilhan Omar.

"I mean, you read the things about Ilhan Omar and about, you know, who she married and whether she didn't marry this person or that person..."

"We're going to take a look at it. If we think that there's a crime, we're going to prosecute that crime."

Here's what was said:

Question: I want to ask you about the anti-fraud task force. You previously mentioned that Ilhan Omar seemed to have committed immigration fraud. Do you anticipate an indictment against her, an indictment related to that situation?

VP Vance: Yeah, so Regan, I don't want to pre-judge an investigation. I mean, you read the things about Ilhan Omar, and about who she married, and whether she didn't marry this person or that person, it certainly seems like something fishy is there. But everybody is entitled to equal justice under the laws. So we're going to investigate it, we're going to take a look at it, if we think that there's a crime, we're going to prosecute that crime, and that's something the Department of Justice is looking at right now.

It's tempting to look at this from the right and feel a certain satisfaction that Rep. Omar may well be getting her just deserts, but that's probably a bit premature. Remember that this is not only deep-blue Minnesota, but even deeper-blue MN-05; Rep. Omar is probably safe in holding that seat in the House of Representatives until, if and when, she is actually denaturalized and deported, and if I had to guess, I'd guess that this is something that we don't want to hold our breath for, satisfying as that would be.

The meal fraud and the rampant Medicare fraud, though, that's another story. The tangled web woven around Rep. Omar seems to be getting more tangled and is drawing tighter with each committee hearing she blows off, and with each question she doesn't answer.
