The WNBA Is in Free Fall As 2nd Former NBA Player Declares for Its Draft

It has begun. Ex-NBA players have seized upon a gaping "loophole" in the WNBA's rules to declare for its draft.

That loophole? If you're a man, all you have to say is you're a woman, and 'poof!' you're eligible.

It all started with Enes Kanter Freedom. Now, there is a second ex-NBA player to jump on the man-wagon: Royce White.

He, or she, or whatever, left a hilarious message for the WNBA. I've got a feeling the league is not amused.

"I'm transgender. I'm a woman. I identify as sometimes identifying as a woman for purpose of basketball, professional basketball, so I'll be declaring for the WNBA draft in 2027 as well," White said.

"I think I’d be unstoppable," White added. "But I’m a team-first guy. I’m a pass-first kind of player. I do the little things. I led my team in all five major stat categories at Iowa State University, so I do a little bit of everything. I’ll do whatever the coach needs me to do. I’ll do whatever the girls need me to do... I think it’s only fair."

Further in the statement, White said the WNBA could end men declaring for its draft by making it clear that only women are eligible. That would mean basing the rules on a biological definition, not a subjective one.

"I think the WNBA could come out and make a definitive statement about guys with a pair of balls playing in the Women’s Association," he said.

When White was challenged about actually declaring for the WNBA, the player made himself plain.

"Oh, no, I’m declaring," White said. "And I don’t want to be discriminated against. I want fair treatment. I’m a young Black, hopefully United States Senator that would like a fair chance to participate as a sometimes-identifying-as-a-transgender-woman athlete."

White also threatened legal action if a WNBA team refused to sign the player.

"I have to file a discrimination lawsuit, right? I mean, that's, that's ridiculous," White said. "We're gonna have to have a huge legal battle about discrimination if I can't play."

Royce White doubled down with a subsequent post on X, mocking the absurdity of the WNBA's "rules."

"I haven't even been publicly trans for 72 hours, and I'm already getting so much hate," White said. "I just want to hoop with my girls in my feminine era! Why can't y'all be happy for me?"

Indeed. Maybe because it's all political and has nothing to do with actual identity? Just a thought.

White earlier made his political leanings clear with his announcement that he is running for Senate in Minnesota.

"I am not suicidal. I'm not on the Epstein list. I don't take money from AIPAC. I don't take money from CAIR. The Democrat establishment runs from me. The Republican establishment works against me. The media knows I know, and I know how to tell the people. I don't pander, I don't pretend, I don't play games. I fear God, I love Christ, and I speak the truth," he wrote.

"Now watch as they try to assassinate my character for the next 12 months, if they don't try to assassinate me literally," he added. "Their time is up and our time is now. The America 1st movement isn't an opportune slogan, it's a renaissance of straight-up dawgs. Patriots, intellectual yet common sense, mixed with integrity and grit. Resolve... we don't quit we don't take a knee. Come get some you globalist, communists, scumbags!"

"Royce White for U.S. Senate MN 2026," he continued. "America 1st, Just Right™"

White won the GOP Senate primary in 2024. The Minnesota primary election is August 11.

White's declaration for the WNBA follows on that made by Enes Freedom Kanter.

The WNBA on Friday night fired off a politically charged statement after Freedom's announcement.

Like it or not, the WNBA is going to have to take a stand on the transgender athletes issue and be prepared for the legal fallout.
