Anyway, faithful readers of RedState have doubtless noticed the recent controversy surrounding WNBA Indiana Fever shooting guard/small forward (for you hip lingo hoops junkies, 3 or 4 position) Sophie Cunningham. In addition to directly standing up for her teammate Caitlin Clark when assaulted on the basketball court, thus arousing the ire of the bitter basketball bees who apparently greatly prefer the BC (Before Clark) days of minuscule crowds, correspondingly minuscule paychecks, and flying commercial on road trips, Cunningham has had the unmitigated gall to say out loud what 99.44 percent of all people think: boys and girls are different, thus should play separate sports.

WNBA Team's 'Apology' Somehow Forgot the Girls It Was Supposed to Be For
When it comes to cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face, no one can top the WNBA. Thus, Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve has decided this is a perfect opportunity to issue a brave and stunning statement on behalf of trans athletes, or something.
"I come from a space of inclusion," Reeve told reporters. "The narrative that I think is problematic is to suggest that transgender athletes are the biggest problem in women's sports. This is what's bothersome. There is a faction of people in our country that are making this a massive issue."
Said “faction” is the ridiculous minority advocating for biological boys to be allowed in women’s sports, not the vast majority of people who actually stayed awake during biology class. Oops, did I say that out loud?
Ah, but there’s plenty more drivel from Reeve.
Reeve added that she thought the topic required "nuance," especially when looking at competitive and elite sports beyond puberty.
"That's where I say common-sense people get together and you find common ground," she said. "To find a way to be inclusive. The answer isn't 'no.'"
Actually, the answer is no. At least as far as the WNBA is concerned, whose freshly signed collective bargaining agreement with the league’s player association states that only women are allowed to play in the league. Oopsies.
Reeve cannot lose in this scenario. She knows full well there will never come a time when one of her players will have to try and defend a man charging toward the basket. Reeve also knows no one in mainstream sports media will call her out on this contradiction, nor will the league speak up. Therefore, she can virtue signal and play to the crowd all she wishes. On top of all that, Reeve enjoys the privilege of coaching the best team in the WNBA, thus giving her featherweight notions the illusion of gravitas on the surface.
Okay, the thought goes. It’s the WNBA. Who cares? I preface my response by noting that an individual indifference does not a majority consensus make.
I deal with a lot of Golden State Valkyries fans in my day job. They are not all bitter bees. They come in all sizes, ages, shapes, and colors. I especially enjoy it when Mom or Dad brings in their young daughters, who are excited beyond belief to have a sports team they can identify with. I can and do talk with them about Kayla Thornton, Veronica Burton, and other Valkyries players who exemplify selfless team basketball, always playing with maximum hustle and heart. Are they not worth the effort of human contact from which spreading the conservative evangel is enabled?
Let the Left stereotype itself with its illogic and lack of consequences for proposed actions. The right needs to follow the advice of Paul:
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
