On Monday, freelance journalist Andy Ngo brought us the news that two Portland Police officers were shot in that city. There's no known connection to any of the anti-ICE protests now going on there, at least as of Tuesday. The police officers injured were local cops, not ICE or DHS agents.

Both officers, as of this writing, are in stable condition. On Tuesday, a local news station, KOIN, released a photo of the suspect wanted in the shooting. The initial search for the suspect has reportedly ended, although he has not yet been caught.
The Portland Police Bureau released a photo of a suspect who allegedly shot two officers in the Sullivan’s Gulch neighborhood Monday evening.
In a press release Tuesday morning, PPB said the initial search for the suspect has concluded, however a suspect was never found.
Around 8:20 p.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to a reported threat with a weapon on Northeast 21st Avenue and Northeast Clackamas Street between NE 16th Ave. and NE 17th Ave.
According to police, the suspect fired shots at officers. Two officers were transported to the hospital by ambulance. “Their conditions are stable,” PPB said in a press release early Tuesday.
The suspect is described as a white man in his mid-30s with facial hair and was wearing a black baseball cap, a black jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes the night of the incident.
He is belived (sic) to be armed with a knife and a handgun, authorities said, noting he was also seen with a black backpack and a green shopping bag.
No other details were immediately available.

While there's no known connection in this case, the ongoing anti-ICE protests have very likely had a broader effect on how the radical left views law enforcement in general.

Full disclaimer: We don't know what happened here. It would be irresponsible to claim that this suspect attacked cops because of the unrest in other parts of Portland, because we don't know. But the culture in these cities has certainly shifted. The radical left (again, we don't know if this suspect had any political motivation or if he's just a common criminal) has taken anger and hatred to a new extreme, and it's not going to end well. And even if this particular suspect isn't politically motivated, the anti-ICE mobs are almost certainly distracting law enforcement from finding and catching the more common run of bad guys.
