Boy, howdy, the 2028 presidential elections really aren't that far away, and if you want to compare the two parties' lists of possible candidates, well, the Republicans have it in a blowout. Aside from the presumptive candidate, Vice President JD Vance, the most effective VP of my lifetime, the GOP's slate is an embarrassment of riches. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has the foreign policy chops and time in the Senate. There are a number of Republican governors who would probably like to take a shot at the top spot.
The Democrats have... who?
And, of course, there's Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis, who I fully expect to see in the Oval Office at some point. On Monday, the Florida governor took to his official X account to laud Florida's collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) in something called Operation Tidal Wave. What has that done?
10,400 illegal immigrants are no longer walking the streets in the Sunshine State.
In April 2025, Florida partnered with federal law enforcement in the largest joint immigration enforcement operation in ICE’s history: Operation Tidal Wave.

The post continues:
Today, I was proud to announce a new milestone in our joint efforts to combat illegal immigration and restore order in our communities: Florida law enforcement have arrested more than 10,400 illegal immigrants across the state.
Florida leads—again!
That's good news, but the governor wasn't done yet. He brought receipts.
Florida leads the nation in 287(g) agreements with DHS, allowing our state and local law enforcement agencies to participate in immigration enforcement in all 67 counties.

That post concludes:
Since Operation Tidal Wave launched eight months ago, Florida law enforcement agencies have arrested more than 10,400 illegal aliens and worked with federal partners to remove them from our state and country. This is the largest joint immigration enforcement operation in ICE’s history, and we’re proud that it will continue here in Florida.
This is what happens when state governments work with the federal immigration authorities.

Ron DeSantis Has Hilarious Response to What He Would Do With NYC Refugees After Election
Now, there are those on the left, including one Democrat aspirant to the White House, the impeccably coiffed California Governor Gavin Newsom, among them, who would decry this operation, claiming that the Trump administration and the state of Florida are rounding up tree-trimmers and housekeepers. While the administration has been primarily targeting known criminals, we should point out that the only acceptable response to anyone who is in the country illegally is to repatriate them.
That's what civilized countries do. No border, no immigration law, and pretty soon you have no country. Republican and Democratic governors alike would do well to study Florida's response to the out-of-control influx of illegal immigration in the Biden years, and to emulate it. Oh, Governor Newsom will still protest - but we might note that even as the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States has slowed to a trickle since President Trump resumed office, that has been replaced by another huge migration, of the productive people fleeing Newsom's California. And, we might note, a lot of them are going to Florida.
That alone says a lot.
Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
