Fauci Backs Out of Voluntary Testimony — Rand Paul Slaps Him With a New Subpoena

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) announced that he has issued a subpoena forcing Dr. Anthony Fauci to appear publicly before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee next month. The move comes after the former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) director abruptly backed out of a voluntary testimony agreement he had already made.

Paul continues his quest as one of the very few members of Congress willing to hold Fauci accountable for his handling of the pandemic, if not for playing a significant role in unleashing it.

This subpoena sets the stage for what could be a highly anticipated COVID-era grilling, with lawmakers aiming to finally get answers on gain-of-function research, the Wuhan lab origins, and Fauci’s role in the controversies that still haunt the country years later.

Dr. Fauci Tried Social Distancing Himself From Responsibility, But Nobody Is Buying The Lies Anymore And He Needs To Pay A Price

Paul's move comes just days after outgoing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard dropped a bombshell by declassifying documents that expose Fauci’s central role in a COVID-19 origins cover-up.

The documents Gabbard released show that Fauci funneled millions of taxpayer dollars into risky gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. They also reveal how he worked hand-in-glove with politicized players inside the Intelligence Community to bury the lab-leak theory, promote the idea of a natural origin, and then lied to Congress about it under oath back in 2024.

Other than that, he did an impeccable job.

Paul, who praised Gabbard’s move and has long pursued Fauci on these issues, is now forcing the former chief medical advisor to Presidents Biden and Trump into the spotlight for what will almost assuredly be riveting testimony.

Today, on my final day as Director of National Intelligence, I’m releasing never-before-seen communications and documents exposing how Dr. Fauci provided millions in US taxpayer dollars to fund dangerous gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, worked with politicized elements within the Intelligence Community to suppress the truth about his actions and hide the virus’ lab-leak origins, and lied to Congress while under oath in 2024. It’s time you know the truth.

RedState followed the COVID-19 pandemic and the controversy surrounding its origins from day one. Special credit goes to Scott Hounsell, who did outstanding work exposing the contradictions, half-truths, and outright lies peddled by Fauci and company. Fauci's future testimony may need to be taken with a grain of salt. The good doctor, as he is known throughout the cult of journalism, has lied so often before Congress that one has to imagine it’s like breathing to him.

As the nation’s leading medical advisor and the public face of the pandemic response, Fauci repeatedly advised Americans to keep six feet apart. In fact, he insisted that social distancing and mask-wearing should have been pushed harder for the asymptomatic at the very onset of the disease appearing in America.

A transcript of testimony before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2024 showed him backpedaling and blaming the CDC for that moronic recommendation. In reality, the number of instances in which Fauci himself, separate from the CDC, told Americans they needed to socially distance is so numerous that it’d be impossible to cite every one.

That said, here is one such example, with him telling ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos that “all” Americans should not only be social distancing, but they should be wearing masks outdoors, another fabricated rule that had no bearing on the spread of the disease.

Paul previously made a criminal referral to the Justice Department seeking an investigation and possible criminal charges against Fauci for lying under oath. The referral surrounded testimony given by Dr. Death regarding gain-of-function research at China’s Wuhan virus lab in 2021.

He testified before Congress that “The NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

An email later released to the public, however, showed Fauci confirming a year prior to his testimony that research in Wuhan was of the gain-of-function variety, if not directly funded by the NIH.

That email – written weeks before a federal COVID emergency was declared - shows the doctor stating flat-out that “scientists in Wuhan University are known to have been working on gain-of-function experiments to determine that molecular mechanisms associated with bat viruses adapting to human infection, and the outbreak originated in Wuhan.”

Newly revealed emails show a desperate Fauci frantically reaching out to the Biden White House on the morning of Inauguration Day, begging for a presidential pardon just hours before President Trump returned to office. The last-minute pardon — issued via autopen — has only fueled suspicions that Fauci knew serious legal trouble was coming once the new administration began digging deeper into the COVID origins cover-up.

Trump has repeatedly suggested that Fauci belongs in prison for his alleged role in misleading the American public throughout the pandemic.

Perhaps Paul's subpoena can help facilitate his change of attire from a white lab coat to an orange jumpsuit.
