COMING ATTRACTIONS
On Tuesday, President Trump will head to Northeast Ohio to attend the final day of the 2026 Patriot Games.
I also want to acknowledge that I screwed up in Friday's Coming Attractions: I predicted that Todd Blanche would be confirmed as Attorney General, squeaking by with Vice President JD Vance serving as the tiebreaker. I forgot how to math (and that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) would not be voting). Blanche did, in fact, squeak by, but it was a 50-49 vote, with no need for a tiebreaker. Mea culpa!
MORNING MUSING
My headline might be counterintuitive, given that I'm admittedly a political junkie. I've lived and breathed politics my whole life (and I expect that will continue for the remainder of it).
That said, it's almost impossible to notice that the more politics creeps into an arena, the uglier it gets: sports, education, the military, media, beer, food, shopping, medicine, interpersonal relationships — you name it, it's been polluted with politics. In fact, I'm stumped trying to come up with a facet of modern life that hasn't become political. I'm almost afraid to acknowledge if there are any, for fear they'll become the next target.
Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but it seems to me we used to be able to segregate our politics from our everyday lives most of the time. I miss that.
