As expected, Democrats have absolutely lost their minds over the United States' strikes on Iran, with the primary talking point being that this was allegedly a "war" and one "of choice," while whining about how President Trump and the DOD aren't revealing every detail about Operation Epic Fury as though that's a completely normal thing to do during an ongoing military conflict (spoiler alert: it isn't, and for good reason).
They say this, of course, despite the fact that past Democrat presidents (and leftist members of Congress) have at various points talked tough on the issue of Iran and its nuclear ambitions, and its well-known role as the primary state sponsor of terrorism in the region going back decades.
About the only Democrat who has had their head on straight regarding Iran has been Sen. John Fetterman (D), who in mid-March emphasized the same point: "I would just like to remind everybody watching that every single Democratic presidential candidate always identified that Iran is a top, top security issue, and every single Democrat in the Senate and in the House says we can never allow Iran to acquire a nuclear bomb."

So what's behind the uproar among Democrats over Trump taking action? Plain and simple Trump Derangement Syndrome, as my RedState colleague Nick Arama astutely pointed out in a previous write-up, noting that "at this point, the Democrats and many in the media are fully off the rails" in allowing their TDS to conveniently reshape their stated opinions on being willing to rein in (as if they truly ever were) the oppressive Iranian regime before it is too late.
Case in point, former Vice President Kamala Harris, who is rumored to be mulling a 2028 presidential run.
Harris once again entered the chat on the Iran issue on Tuesday, sharing her hot take on Trump's 8 PM Eastern Time deadline on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has warned that if it doesn't happen on that timeline, "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again."
The failed 2024 Democrat presidential nominee had this to say on X in response:
The President of the United States is threatening to commit war crimes and wipe out a "whole civilization" — all because he started a disastrous war of his own making and had no plan and no strategy for how to end it.
This is abhorrent, and the American people do not support this.
Trump's recklessness is needlessly putting our brave service members in harm's way, destroying America's global standing, and making life even more unaffordable for the American people.
We must all stand against this and oppose funding this illegal war of choice.
Like most Democrats, Harris knows full well and good that Trump did not literally mean the entire country and its people. But because she (and they) want to sound like the real Iran/foreign policy/regional experts - and also want to weaken him and America by trying to make him sound deranged, this is the best she could come up with, apparently.
Unfortunately for her, though, some receipts entered the chat on her prior stances towards Iran, including positions she took after her party installed her as their nominee after kicking Joe Biden to the curb:

This is Kamala Harris in 2024:

“Iran is our biggest advisory”
“What we need to do, to ensure that Iran never achieves the ability to be a nuclear power, is my highest priority”
These people are so dishonest. Total sociopath! pic.twitter.com/gn0CKKqGCE
(Note: Harris did not use the term "advisory" in her answer above.)
Does Harris really - seriously - think that she would have handled Iran better than Trump had she become president in a manner befitting the leader of the free world? As my colleagues and others have pointed out, had a Democrat been in office after 2024, Iran not only would be much closer to having a nuke capable of hitting the U.S., but there would still be Israelis held hostage in Gaza by Hamas terrorists. Not to mention the fact that narco-terrorist ringleader Nicolas Maduro would still be the unelected dictator of Venezuela.
As far as I'm concerned, anytime a Democrat opens their trap on this issue, they are reminding folks all over again why a Democrat should never lead this country ever again. Because, as prior history shows, they'd kick the can down the road and would leave the United States far more vulnerable to an attack from the likes of Iran and its allies than it was to begin with.
Editor's Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.
