Sen. Kennedy Rubs More Salt in the Wound After Schumer's No Good, Horrible, Very Bad Week

Though Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) certainly has a unique, southern gentleman-like way with words, he's also not one to mince words, as we saw this week after Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's (D-NY) government shutdown stunt came to an end, thanks in part to eight Democrats in his caucus who defected to vote with Republicans on ending it.

As we reported, in one interview, done amid reports that a deal had been reached with those Senate Democrats, Kennedy told Fox News that "Sen. Schumer chose to have this shutdown—he just dug up more snakes than he could kill."

And the day after the House voted and sent the bill to President Trump that ended the shutdown, Kennedy went into beast mode, stating that Schumer's inability to stand up to the AOCs of his party was what got him into this.

"I think he's scared of them," Kennedy suggested. "I think his testicles are on back order from China."

LA’s Sen. Kennedy Predicts How Schumer Shutdown Ends in His One-of-a-Kind Way

As early as February this year, Democrat Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) was being floated as a formidable primary challenger to Schumer in 2028, as frustration among the woke left was growing that Schumer wasn't fighting back hard enough against Trump.

That talk got much louder after the shutdown deal became a reality, with AOC herself being among those pointing to his leadership failures in terms of not being able to keep the shutdown going and arguing that primary voters in states where those eight Democrat senators reside should not forget what happened this week.

To rub salt in the wound a little more, Kennedy had this to say in response to a clip of AOC again zeroing in on the fact that the Schumer Shutdown failed, thanks in part to Schumer himself:

Yep. They will mow right over their leftist appeasers after they get what they want out of them, just like Democrat New York Gov. Kathy Hochul found out after she endorsed Democrat Socialist NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani two months before he was elected.

There's something to be said for not bending the knee to the more radical elements of your political party. But then again, that would require some backbone, something that is in short supply among Democrats these days.
