Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) may have been trying with his government shutdown to impress his leftist base to hold off any challenge to his seat from Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14).
But instead, because the Democrats ultimately caved, Schumer is now being held responsible for that capitulation by the left, and they're even angrier with him than they were before the shutdown. They're not buying that Schumer wasn't in on the capitulation, even though he voted "no" on the deal to end the shutdown.

Now AOC is also weighing in, and it sounds to me that both Schumer and other Democrats had better be prepared to face primaries from the left.
New — Asked AOC about Chuck Schumer’s handling of shutdown. (He voted NO on bill)

“We are talking about a coordinated effort of eight senators with the knowledge of Leader Schumer, voting to break with the entire Democratic Party in exchange for nothing,” she told me pic.twitter.com/fzDkMGMfzy
“We are talking about a coordinated effort of eight senators with the knowledge of Leader Schumer, voting to break with the entire Democratic Party in exchange for nothing,” she told CNN's Manu Raju.
“And now people's health care costs are going to be skyrocketing …. But I think that when we talk about this debate about the Democratic Party, it is, indeed, about the party writ large and our ability to fight or not."
Of course, that's nonsense, because it wasn't the clean continuing resolution that was ending ACA COVID subsidies; that was the Democrats who had set them to expire at the end of the year. The whole Obamacare mess is on the Democrats.
And if that wasn't clear enough, what AOC was saying, when reporters specifically asked her if Schumer should stay as minority leader, she said it was broader than that and indicated people should be primaried. "This problem is bigger than one person," she contended.
🚨They asked AOC if she still wants to get rid of Chuck Schumer.

"Should Chuck Schumer stay as minority leader?"
Her answer suggests she wants to take down MORE than just Chuck Schumer.

She pointed out that among the eight, some were retiring and others weren't up for several cycles, "with the hope that people will forget this moment." She said that while New York's Senate election wasn't this year, other Senate elections were, and she hoped people would participate in their primaries.
AOC said it was a problem of the party. I agree.
Democrats were trying to play games and hold the American people hostage. Now, their own leftist base is going after them for not continuing the hostage-taking, no matter who was hurt or how it might damage the country. Hopefully, they all implode together over their own extremism, and people see how crazy their positions truly are.
Editor’s Note: After more than 40 days of screwing Americans, a few Dems have finally caved. The Schumer Shutdown was never about principle—just inflicting pain for political points.
