As we've reported, the number of self-serving people - including media figures and Democrat operatives - falling all over themselves to share their impressions of the Joe Biden they knew ahead of the infamous June 2024 presidential debate has been a sight to behold.
Much of it has stemmed not just from the upcoming releases of multiple books on the topic, but also thanks to a speech given during the White House Correspondents' Association awards dinner by Axios reporter Alex Thompson two weekends ago, where he talked about Biden's decline and the MSM's failure to do their due diligence on it.
"President Biden's decline and its coverup by the people around him is a reminder that every White House, regardless of party, is capable of deception," Thompson, who also has a book coming out on the issue, stated. "We, myself included, missed a lot of this story, and some people trust us less because of it."

Noting that's an understatement would be like saying "water is wet." But something that can't be overstated is the delusion some of these same people are now inadvertently admitting to when they talk about what they knew and claim to have not seen or known about Biden's decline.
Among them is Dan Pfeiffer, who was a senior advisor to then-President Barack Obama and who went on to co-host the "Pod Save America" podcast with fellow "Obama Bros" including Jon Favreau.
Over the weekend, Pfeiffer sat down to talk with former NBC News "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd - who himself has been quite delusional on this topic - on the subject of Thompson's remarks and to reflect on how he (Pfeiffer) viewed Biden prior to his disastrous 2024 debate appearance.
Pfeiffer said that before the 2020 election, he and Biden talked, and that Biden sounded "totally fine." He claimed to have not seen him for a while until April 2024, where a public appearance Biden made on the weekend of the White House Correspondents' Assocation awards dinner sent up some red flags - which he promptly ignored, chalking them up to old age instead:
“I was at a White House reception, and he was bad, he was quite bad in it. And he told the same story twice. And he just seemed mostly old. In no way did I look at that and say 'that man cannot do the job of president.' I had real concerns that he could not do it for four more years.”
But your concern is [if you're looking at that] as someone with my perspective is man, that's a guy that's gonna struggle on the campaign trail in a presidential campaign. But I also thought to myself, ‘Well, it’s Friday, this is a super bizarre event, the night before the White House Correspondents’ dinner.' I knew he was coming from speech prep and going back to speech prep on a Friday evening. Even Barack Obama was not a great communicator on a Friday evening.
And so I trusted the people who I talked to, who said he was fine. And I also believed, and I said this at the time after the Robert Hur report came out, is that if Biden really was having these, like, mental lapses all over town, everyone would know it."

The thing is, though, that everybody knew it, as Todd admitted about two weeks after the debate, when he talked about what a senior cabinet secretary had told him in 2022 about Biden:
But I had a cabinet secretary two years ago, okay- two years ago, out of the blue asked me, ‘You really think he’s gonna-- he can’t run again like this?’ And I said ‘Well, you have more interaction with him than I do,’ and they said, ‘I don’t have a lot of interaction with him.’ This is a pretty senior cabinet secretary. So, and this was two years ago. This is one of those, you know, it’s the classic open secret, nonversation, right? It’s the story everybody knows and everybody was afraid to talk about.
Everybody, including the well-connected Obama Bros, knew well before Biden forced their hands with how poorly he did at the debate. Make no mistake about it, though - had Biden managed to pull off a decent performance, they still would have been gaslighting people about his condition to try and drag him over the finish line one more time against Donald Trump.
Ironically, the same guy proclaiming he didn't know anything was going on with Biden until four years after he'd previously talked to him has a 2022 book titled "Battling the Big Lie: How Fox, Facebook, and the MAGA Media Are Destroying America." And yet there he was (and still is) peddling perhaps the biggest lie told in modern politics: that Joe Biden was fine up until 2024.
If these folks think their recollections after the fact are making them look better, they're in for a rude awakening. Voters should never forget that the same people who told us Biden was fit to lead this country and who were participants in the massive cover-up are the same people suggesting Trump is unfit to lead. Think about it.
