Mary Trump Has Moment of Sanity Over Hyperventilating CNN Trump Indictment Coverage

Because the mainstream media and Democrats are so Trump-obsessed, we’ve come to expect wall-to-wall coverage on just about everything Trump-related, right down to “news” networks like CNN having photographers camped out in trees (probably) to get a closer look at former President Donald Trump’s golfing routine.

“Trump was out playing golf today at his West Palm Beach golf course… per our photog @petermorrisCNN,” disgraced weekend CNN anchor Jim Acosta noted on Twitter on Feb. 11, 2021.

There was also their weird periodic analyses of Trump’s ice cream eating habits during his presidency, with crack news teams filing a “report” at one point in 2017 on how Trump would usually get two scoops while everyone around him only got one.

No, seriously. That happened:

Fast forward to now, and CNN is of course banging the “Trump indictment” drum.

In fairness, it’s a pretty big news story that a former president now faces indictment, and understandably we’re going to get some extra coverage of that because people want to know what’s going on and where things stand, etc.

But I’m fairly certain that outside of rabid anti-Trump leftists, not one person in this country is eager to rush to their television sets to watch CNN anchor Dana Bash and several so-called “political analysts” providing hot takes on Trump’s body language as he got off the plane as evidence of “what it all means” or whatever.

And yet here we are.

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

Trump’s niece, Mary Trump, a Democrat through and through and one who is of course revered on the far left for being a “woke” member of the Trump family, is someone who I have little to no use for.

But on Monday in response to the up to the second CNN coverage of Trump’s every finger twitch, she indicated that she had had “enough”:

Seriously, CNN? Do you need to show us Donald’s plane taking off?

The media should have learned its lesson after its failed coverage of the 2016 election when empty podiums and planes idling on the tarmac were deemed newsworthy.

Yet, here we are again and the media is making the same mistakes all over.

Donald Trump will be arraigned tomorrow in a New York City courtroom to face 34 charges—that’s what matters. How he gets to the courtroom isn’t news.

The media’s insistence on covering every aspect of this man’s life to the exclusion of all else is one of the reasons this country is in such dire straits.

Enough.

But in a move that even her uncle likely would begrudgingly approve, Mary Trump’s next tweet invited users to her Substack page for more commentary – provided you’re willing to pay for it.

I think she made a fair point with her first tweet, even with the knowledge in mind from a writer’s perspective that what Trump is doing over the course of the next several days and weeks is going to be news. We don’t need “expert” opinion on his body language, and we don’t need an analysis as to what Melania Trump not being there with him as he walked down the steps of his plane allegedly meant.

Give us the particulars on what his lawyers are doing, what Trump’s saying, and what Bragg and Co. are up to. But please, MSM (and CNN in particular), give the hyperventilating over the minute points a rest, and give other stories the attention they deserve for a change.
