Elon Musk did an interview with The Economist's editor-in-chief, Zanny Minton Beddoes.
We pointed to a great clip where she tried to cast him as "far right" and told him that some people loathed him. He flipped the script on her, telling her to her face that she didn't know how much she and the media were hated.

Another great point he made was that his take on issues like illegal immigration was just normal.
Just common sense! pic.twitter.com/GG5jnhgQ8f

"I support the normal people," he explained, flipping the script again. He said you could take an old speech from Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, ask people on the "lunatic left, "What do you think about the speech by Trump?" They would reply, "He's the worst person ever!" Then you'd tell them that was by Obama or Clinton."
Beddoes agreed that the "center" had shifted to the left, but she kept trying to cast his thoughts as extreme. He wasn't having it. He said his principles were simple.
"Tell me which of these sounds terrible. That we should have secure borders, that we should have safe cities, that we should have sensible spending. Which of those three are far right, fringe?"
He admonished her for terming that "far right fringe," saying that was "false, misleading, and nonsense." He also teased them, telling them to make sure that they didn't cut out what he was saying there, "Please keep this part in!"
Musk posted the exchange, saying it was "just common sense."
It's this graph again, which Musk has posted in the past about his own evolution. It's not Musk who has shifted; it's the left.
Well, like he once posted; when you go so far extremely to the left than anyone has ever gone, everything else seems far right. As shown in the diagram below: pic.twitter.com/Ar0FcnnKjr

What he's saying about the Obama and Hillary remarks is also true.
Here's a sample from "far right" Barack Obama.

More "far right" Democrats in a comparison with how awful Joe Biden was on the subject.
Democrats advocated for strong borders for years. It's what got Obama elected. https://t.co/gM3TVTO483 pic.twitter.com/KHpJ3bFEwV

The problem isn't in what Elon or President Donald Trump have been saying; the problem is in the radical positions of the Democrats and the left today. Not only have they moved beyond just some pathway to citizenship, you now have "Democrats" who want to "abolish borders" and/or "abolish ICE." You have Democrats who think there shouldn't be deportations, that enforcing the law is somehow evil.

That's not "normal" — that's the "fringe" that media should actually be calling out, not Elon Musk.
What Elon Musk just said is in line with most of America.
Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
