Good News in the California Governor's Race

It's going to be a bit until the races are settled in California, because that's California.

But you'd have to say there's some exciting and encouraging news in what we've seen, and how the numbers are shaping up right now.

As we already reported, in the race for Los Angeles mayor, while Karen Bass has the current lead, Spencer Pratt appears to currently be a close second. If those numbers hold, they would be going to a runoff in November. He is doing much better than the "experts" would have predicted, a sign of how much his campaign has captured attention, as well as how bad the Democrats have been for the city for years.

There's also exciting news in the California governor's race. Republican Steve Hilton is one of the top two right now in that race with Xavier Becerra. He's actually leading Becerra right now, 27.7 to 25.3. If that holds, then Hiltton will advance to the runoff. You can continue to check our "live results" post, which is periodically updated.

Hilton, a one-time British political strategist turned American conservative commentator and former Fox News Channel host who is backed by President Donald Trump, and Becerra, a former California attorney general who later served as a Cabinet secretary in former President Biden's administration, were in the lead early Wednesday morning, with votes still being counted and results not yet certified.

"Change is coming to California, and it's long overdue," Hilton told supporters at his primary night watch party in Orange County.

Hilton struck a chord by promising to cut costs in the overly expensive state.

Democrat Billionaire Tom Steyer is in third (at 19.6 at this point), followed by Republican Sheriff Chad Bianco.

Everyone else, including the execrable Eric Swalwell (who remained on the ballot after dropping out over sexual assault allegations) and former Democratic Rep. Katie Porter, is well back.
