Stunning Media Assessment of Trump's Ability Is Going to Drive the Left Mad

You don't often see liberal media admitting positive things about President Donald Trump.

But as our sister site Townhall reported, former NBC host Chuck Todd just made a big, surprising admission about Trump during an interview on the Can’t Be Censored podcast hosted by Karman Wong and Travis Dhanraj.

Wong asked Todd, "Who is the best communicator of this generation?"

Todd replied that it was Donald Trump. Why? "He's figured out how to communicate in this fragmented environment. Who else has?" He's effective, Todd said.

Todd explained that Barack Obama was able to communicate to make progressives think he was a "revolutionary" and make moderates think he was a "pragmatist." Todd thought that was effective and deemed Obama the "best communicator the Democrats have had in the 21st century." But he said, "You gotta say that Trump's been the more effective communicator of anyone."

Now, I have never regarded Todd as particularly sage, but this take is spot on, and you know it's going to make people on the left crazy.

Obama was a smooth operator. He said what you wanted to hear; that's why he was able to shape-shift with different groups. Interesting that Todd admitted that.

But Trump's power is his authenticity. Good, bad, blunt, raw - you know he's saying exactly what he believes, and he's not sugar-coating it to please you. And he's willing to fight for it, to make it happen as he had to, for example, to secure the border. That resonates with people - that warts and all, he's an authentic communicator.

That's why he's stealing away voters from the Democratic Party, including people who previously voted for Obama, because, in Trump, they see someone not just talking about the issues that they care about, but putting in the work and taking action as well. That's why he earned the popular vote and won the Electoral College in 2024. If there's a comparison to a prior generation, Trump might be a bit like Ronald Reagan in the ability to reach across the aisle with his appeal.

It's also why he's getting things done on the world stage, too. People know he means what he says. He's shown he will take action, for example, by taking out the Iranian nuclear facilities, with a little genius diversion thrown in. Unlike Obama, Trump doesn't make up "red lines" and let people walk all over them. That matters to our friends, and to our enemies.

It's a big admission Todd is making, and implicit in this is that the current Democrats don't have someone right now who has even taken on the Obama mantle, much less someone who is a "Trump." They had Joe Biden, who was in cognitive decline. They have Kamala Harris, who is inarticulate. They have California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who sounds like an inauthentic car salesman.

What's worse for Democrats is that Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, two names bandied about for 2028, are also effective communicators.

Vance has a great sense of humor that connects with people, as we saw with his Halloween meme. He's about to reach across the aisle to people. Rubio is bringing home deals and hostages.

But bottom line? Obama talked about hope and change.

Trump is the hope and change.
