Katie Porter's chances for governor of California may have imploded with her freakout response during a California CBS News affiliate interview.
Her reactions were wild to just basic questions from reporter Julie Watts. She threw a temper tantrum, as my colleagues reported earlier, and she said she was ending the interview. Check out the eyes.
Democrats are so used to media being their propagandists that they totally lose it when asked basic questions. Here’s California’s Katie Porter losing it during an interview. pic.twitter.com/relSS2Ajpa

The full interview made her look even worse, and showed she should not be governor.

But her "freakout day" isn't quite over yet. Now, Politico has a story and a video showing Porter losing it on a poor staffer back in July 2021. Porter was talking with then-Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm as part of a meeting Porter was taping with the Biden administration. Porter's staffer walks into the shot to correct something that she said about electric vehicles. Porter curses, telling the staffer to "get out" of her "f**king shot!"
Warning for graphic language:
Exclusive from @melmason on Katie Porter, who berates a staffer and tells her to “get out of my fucking shot!” while recording a video with the Biden administration.

Politico reported that the final, edited webinar product did not include the tantrum.
In the call, Porter also complained she didn't get to visit the White House despite raising a "s**t ton" of money for Joe Biden.
“Never been there. Some of my colleagues (have been) three, four times,” Porter vented. “I don’t fit in the photo-op for some reason.”
Porter also sounded off about not being in touch with Biden officials.
“I’m like the least in-connection with the White House member of Congress,” Porter said.
Who would want a boss or a governor who behaves like this and treats people this way? And if she acts like this in the public eye, how bad must she be in private? We also covered some of the stories about incidents in her past.
Former Democratic political operative and now 2WAY "The Morning Meeting" co-host Dan Turrentine didn't hold back with his opinion of Porter.

"I have spent a lot of time around that office ... She is condescending and patronizing. She absolutely believes that she is right, you are wrong, she's smarter than you. It comes across."… pic.twitter.com/s00gSPb1sa
He said she was "condescending and patronizing."
"She absolutely believes that she is right, you are wrong, she's smarter than you. It comes across," she said.
"She doesn't respect Trump voters — and she didn't respect those type of questions. You just can't talk to people like that. And that is Katie Porter's problem. It's why so many people dislike her — and disliked her in Congress!"
Co-host Sean Spicer laughed when Halperin asked if they thought Porter was the frontrunner, "I hope so, because then we [the GOP] might have a chance." Turrentine thought she was because the "base loves her."
The problem for Porter is that Turrentine's opinion about her is not an isolated view of her. I find it interesting this information is dropping now.
Our Managing Editor, Jennifer Van Laar, had a question.
Rumors have been swirling in CA political circles for the last month or so that Alex Padilla is going to get in the race, and that's why Lt. Gov Eleni Kounalakis and former CA Sen. Pro Tem Toni Atkins got out of the race. Between yesterday's clip going viral, which was sent from an account that has very few followers, and this 2021 clip surfacing in a Politico exclusive... are Padilla's people behind the oppo drops? And if Padilla gets in and wins, that opens a senate seat in CA so Padilla could basically appoint his replacement - and would that be Newsom?
Porter responded to Politico about their report.
“It’s no secret I hold myself and my staff to a high standard, and that was especially true as a member of Congress,” Porter told POLITICO in a statement. “I have sought to be more intentional in showing gratitude to my staff for their important work.”
Um, that's not a high standard.
Bottom line, I'm with Sean Spicer. Porter would be a horrible choice for California, but so would Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA). They're both so awful, it will probably help the Republican candidate.
