MSNBC's Nicole Wallace May Win Most Unhinged Media Take on Padilla Incident

We've been seeing a lot of bad takes on the actions taken by Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) at DHS Secretary Kristi Noem's press briefing in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Democrats were losing their minds over it, of course, to help their narrative.

It's pretty clear why the security reacted as they did to Padilla coming up the side of the room toward Noem, interrupting loudly, and then pushing back against the agents. Even CNN's security analyst got it, as we reported. Nobody knew who Padilla was initially. Then he was already being pushed back before he identified himself, and they had no way to know whether that was true until they could secure the situation and determine the facts.

Hot Takes: Dems/Media Losing Their Minds Over Padilla Incident, Break Out the Crocodile Tears

But then there was MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace, who was talking about it on "Pod Save America."

She said it was "one of the bleakest days of anchoring that I’ve ever had in the job." That's so hyperbolic, it's unintentionally hilarious. Consider all the things that have gone on during her tenure, and this is one of the "bleakest days"? Check out how sad she is.

We, I think, were prepared, on the losing side of the November contest, for Trump to do things that we warned he would do — and his embrace of autocracy and [Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor] Orbán and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin and others,” Wallace said. “But … I mean, Orbán hasn’t done this … he’s to the autocratic right of Orbán. And to be doing what they’re doing in full view of the cameras really does make the mind expand in new directions in terms of wondering what they’re doing to people … who aren’t one of a body of 100, and where there aren’t cameras rolling.”

“I think it’s a chilling moment, both in the treatment of someone from the other political party, but I think it’s also a really ominous sign of what they’re willing to use DHS — and those were FBI agents who had the senator on the ground — [FBI Deputy Director] Dan Bongino confirmed that in a statement,” she continued.

She claimed it was a "real ‘what the f*** are we doing?’ moment, I think, for the whole country.”

I have to admit to laughing at how ridiculous this take is, although unfortunately, likely there are folks on the left who will fall for it. How is protecting the DHS Secretary from an unknown guy interrupting her briefing in an elevated threat environment even close to any of what Wallace said? That tells you just how much her take is worth, because we can all see what happened, and yet she's still trying to push this take. And where was her concern about the treatment of Donald Trump? Somehow, I missed that. Where's the concern for the female DHS Secretary?

What "we're doing" — meaning what the Trump team is doing for the country — is trying to deal with the massive influx of illegal aliens that Joe Biden let in. That's what the American people voted for. Now, folks on the left are rioting and trying to create chaos to stop that. Media should be reporting that, but instead, some seem to be carrying water for the Democrats.

"Chilling," my eye.
