Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, who has become a sensation since her pointing incident on the court went viral, was asked by an ESPN journalist how people related to her.
This was Cunningham's response.
"People love me or they really frickin' hate me," she says.
"I just don't care."
Some may see this response as arrogant, but what it reflects is authenticity. Cunningham is unapologetically herself, and this is exactly what the world, and especially young girls, need.
Which is probably why her other response about whether biological men should be allowed to play in women's sports also turned heads.
She'll weigh in on how to "protect women's sports," she says, because she's in that world and feels qualified to speak to that world. "I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I'm like, 'I never once said that,'" she says. "I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
As our editor Bob Hoge reported, the leftist outrage was dialed to 11:
Leftists are so polite and logical, aren’t they? But guess what — Sophie Cunningham does not care. She had a simple response to the eternally woke media who tried to shame her for her stance: “I said what I said.”
Brutal, but authentic, and frankly, integrous.

“I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense. … I think it’s really important to protect children.”
“I don’t dislike anyone. … I’m there to love, but I’m also there to love biological women. …” pic.twitter.com/3OrIqoVYrk

The Threats Against Sophie Cunningham Have Begun
So, when Adidas decided to issue a limited edition line of Sophie Cunningham sneakers, the leftist ghouls were even more outraged and predicted that no one would buy them.
Jokes on them: Proving the naysayers wrong, the Crazy Energy “Sophie Cunningham” PE product sold out within 24 hours. This is a $120 a pair sneaker, mind you.
you guys really showed up! nothing but genuine love for yall💕 https://t.co/2c4nLEeRna

We love to see people do well, and it further validates Cunningham's brand. People are hungry to support realness and authenticity, and they're not afraid to put their dollars behind it.

You were told backing women who defend women's rights would destroy your brand.
Instead, Sophie Cunningham's Adidas release sold out in under 24hrs.
Turns out the loudest people on Twitter aren't your customers. Women are. Maybe it's time you… https://t.co/vlHrQ23pnD pic.twitter.com/bNrX8PR8Ad

XX-XY Athletics is the only sports brand which has stood for women's sports and women's spaces, against the transgender onslaught. Founder and CEO Jennifer Sey reminded everyone now jumping on the Cunningham train about this fact. Sey is also trying to recruit Cunningham to come on board with XX-XY for her next athletic partnership, and even did a sample mock up of gear featuring Cunningham's famous Point.
The @WNBA says that the @sophaller finger point can't be licensed by brands because it is "derogatory."

I will make it from @xx_xyathletics for Sophie without licensing it, so she makes all the money. I'll make it on her behalf.
She should make all the money off her own meme. pic.twitter.com/MmemtQmLrG
Sey keeps sweetening the pot, so, hopefully Cunningham's manager and social media handlers are paying attention.

I’ve done a lot of deals with celebs during my time at Levi’s. I never offered the biggest ($) just the best and most authentic partnership. Which is what I can do here.
— Jennifer Sey (@JenniferSey) July 25, 2026
We’d always have your back, Sophie.
We’d say “less caution” not more.
Say it and say it loud. 💪 https://t.co/Zn77busuE1
XX-XY is a badass brand, which represents authentic femininity, all by itself. But a Cunningham partnership could take it into the stratosphere, as they deserve to be.
There’s only one athletic brand that takes a stand for the protection of women’s sports.

It’s not Nike.
It’s not Adidas.
It’s not Lululemon.
It’s @xx_xyathletics. From the jump. We put it all on the line.
