My colleague Rusty Weiss reported on a poignant post by Elon Musk on X explaining why voting is so crucial this year. To be clear, it's crucial every year, but the stakes have gotten so much higher because the consequences of our choices have never been so dynamic.
Musk warned of an oncoming one-state party that would arrive quickly due to the Democrats' plans not only to throw open the borders and let everyone in but also vote to bring in territories like D.C. and Puerto Rico to create more Democrat Party representatives effectively. Add to that the Supreme Court expansions and packing, and you've effectively got what Musk calls "the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word," and what Weiss called a "Commie riptide."
My biggest concern is that if there is a clean sweep by Democrats of the House, Senate and Presidency in 2028, they will: 1. Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate. 2. Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority. 3. Increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority. This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word. All that is needed to ensure this doesn’t happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one.

What I find very interesting about all this is that this level of radicalism is, more or less, a recent development. While it'd be accurate to say the Democrats were always on the extreme side, that window has shifted so far that the Democrats of the Clinton era would be considered so moderate as to be Republicans. At the very least, this is what the radicals that have infected the Democrat Party would say about them.
And while that's interesting, what I find hilarious is the fact that this radicalism is the only thing keeping the Democrat Party relevant and the very thing keeping them unpopular. The truth is, most of that Clinton-era Democrat feeling is still pretty pervasive among voters, and many of them pulled the lever for Donald Trump because they got their Ronald Reagan moment of the party leaving them.
If I were a betting man, I'd be putting my money on quite a few of these races flopping hard for Democrats, and that's because the message the party has relied upon about caring for everyone and wanting to "protect" benefits and create a country of inclusion has been blown wide open on what it really means. Even the most moderate Democrat with the most moderate positions has that commie, open borders, trans kids, learning center stink all over them.
And we can't forget their favorite angle of attack: "We're not Trump!"
Obviously, time will tell, but a lot of what the left is doing feels like a Hail Mary. They can't stop themselves from stating their radical intent because they've been shown, at least in deep blue areas, that radicalism translates to confidence, and it's easy to sell statism as togetherness and free stuff as compassion. I do not doubt that there will be a surge of useful idiots going to the polls to vote blue because they think they're going to be on the right side of history for doing so.
But I don't think that number is going to be all that large. Judging by the location of the cultural pendulum, leftism isn't just out of vogue; there are too many parts of it that are absolutely repulsive. I don't just mean on a surface, socio-political level either. Leftism said it needed to get its hands into everything to make the world a better place, and it did. Now, no one can escape its intersectionality. It's in sports, video games, television, movies, your workplace, your kid's school, and more.
If you ask me, that "Vote blue no matter who" pool is evaporating daily. Not only has the left embraced a level of radicalism many Democrat voters never intended, but now they can't watch a football game without being suspicious that they're going to be hit with some DEI nonsense that means nothing to the overall sport. The legacy media, being happy to inject leftist politics into everything they can, made it clear that this is Democrat Party-affiliated brainwashing.
I think a lot of people are going to vote R, and not because they're Republican or have patriotic principles, but because they're just sick of the joke that the left and the Democrat Party have become. They're very unserious people who reek of desperation on so many levels.
