Remember back in the day, when a common saying was "boys will be boys?" And, at the same time, girls were girls. Nobody really contemplated anything different. Now, though, the global left - this isn't just an American issue - thinks that anyone can identify as a boy, a girl, a three-spirit wood nymph, or a ham and cheese sandwich, and we not only have to agree with them but also allow them to use whatever bathroom facilities that boys, girls, wood nymphs, and sandwiches use.
The Trump administration, in the form of Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Harmeet Dhillon, isn't having any of it. On Monday, AAG Dhillon announced a new probe into several California school districts, which are defying the Trump administration's interpretation of Title IX to recognize, frankly, reality.

Girls don’t belong in boys’ bathrooms & boys have no place on girls’ sports teams. Today, the @CivilRights Division launched compliance reviews into four CA school districts for policies that appear to ignore biology & promote gender ideology to kids behind their parents’ backs.

The press release states in part:
This Department of Justice will not tolerate local school authorities trampling on the rights of parents concerning the education of their children,” said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “The Supreme Court’s recent decisions in Mahmoud and Mirabelli have put all school districts on notice: policies that keep parents in the dark about sexuality and gender ideology in the classroom must end now.”
The review will examine whether, and to what extent, the California School Districts have notified parents of their right to opt their children out of such instruction. Under California law, sex education must include SOGI topics. While parental notice and opt-out provisions apply to “all or part of” sex education, SFUSD, for example, has previously advised its teachers that neither parental permission nor notification are required to teach or discuss SOGI topics. Further, SOGI topics appear to be embedded in California’s social studies and history classes. The compliance review will also assess policies that permit access to single-sex intimate spaces (such as bathrooms and locker rooms) and girls’ sports teams based on purported gender identity rather than biological sex.
The actions described in the press release, for the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) sound a lot like deliberate defiance of the Trump administration's Title IX rulings, and honestly, coming from San Francisco, that's not too terribly surprising.
Actions like this should be recognized by most parents, even in San Francisco, as nothing more than aligning policies with reality. Even if schools feel determined to teach this horse squeeze, they must give parents to the proper notifications so they can yank their kids out of those classes; that seems to be one of the major problems, along with the persistent and insane practice of allowing boys in girls' bathrooms and locker rooms.
They are our kids, after all; they don't belong to the school. Parents, not schools, should be making these kinds of decisions. That seems, in large part, what the Civil Rights Division is looking to enforce.
And, no, we're not tired of winning yet.
