To the American Democratic Party,
Normally, I’d be loath to offer advice to the opposition. But I harbor a sneaking suspicion that the gears of government might turn a little more smoothly with two mainstream political parties, one just to the left of center, and one just to the right of center. But that’s not where national Democrats have taken us. The Democrats have dragged their half of the Overton Window so far to the left that Republicans can’t even see it with the Hubble Space Telescope, so now we have one right-of-center political party, and one wackadoodle waaay-left political party.
How can Democrats go back to a center-left party? One that isn’t on the 10 percent side of every 90-10 issue?
Well, I have some suggestions.
Stop Being Nuts.
Democrats are on the wrong side of every major issue.
Democrats are in favor of letting boys and men play on girls’ and women’s sports teams. They are in favor of allowing those same boys and men in the girls’ and women’s locker rooms and showers, which may be even worse. And if those girls and women, or their parents, object, Democrats are in favor of those girls, women, and parents being shouted at that they are bigots, fascists, and probably have bad breath and body odor.
Democrats are in favor of turning our military into a jobs program for the neurotic. Want to join up so that Uncle Sam will pay for your “gender-affirming care?” Great! Want to go to West Point so you can lecture your classmates about the wonders of communism? Great! And let’s not forget those great DEI programs, which promote the incompetent at the expense of the competent, just to check off those “diversity” boxes.

Democrats are in favor of crowds of enraged people rioting, looting, and burning, all in outrage over the death of a career criminal while he was being taken into custody. George Floyd was a drug addict and a dealer. He once jammed the barrel of a loaded gun into a pregnant woman’s body in the course of a robbery, and when he died, our major (blue) cities exploded. The riots cost billions in property damage, and at least 25 people were killed.
But let a tiny woman, a Ukrainian refugee (Democrats only seem to like refugees if they are criminals), be murdered on a commuter train by another career criminal, one whom blue-city prosecutors and judges kept letting back out on the streets, and the Democrats all go quiet, at least until they are shamed into a pro forma statement about how awful it was.
Stop Encouraging Nuts.
Democrats make stump speeches about ICE being the Gestapo, about Donald Trump being a Nazi, about JD Vance being Goebbels. Cops are Nazis. Soldiers are the SS.
They demonize, they attack; Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) issued an open threat to the Supreme Court, following which a nut attempted to assassinate Justice Kavanaugh.

President Trump has cleaned up the District of Columbia, which Democrats opposed, with the result that the most dangerous place to be in the District is now between any Democrat and a camera. Democrats fought him every step of the way. The real loony-tunes Dems – Omar, Swalwell, Schiff, AOC – have shown there is no depth to which they will not sink to demonize Republicans, to dehumanize them. We have seen all too horribly, most recently on September 10th, what the results of that dehumanization are.
Stop Running Cover for Nuts.
Democrats seem to recognize no rioter, looter, or agitator that isn’t worth excusing. Hunter Biden’s laptop? Russian disinformation. Transgender nuts shooting up schools? It’s not a behavioral issue; blame the gun. This isn’t even a recent development; it’s not just a problem with the American left. Leftists in Europe even tried to downplay Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge, massacring 10s, more likely hundreds of thousands of people.
Democrats also do this on an international scale. Israel is the victim of a vicious attack, an attack by Hamas in which Hamas terrorists committed atrocities on a horrendous scale, committing the biggest mass murder of Jews since 1945 – and when Israel fights back, American Democrats (I happily exempt Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) from this) scream “genocide!” But China shoves its Uyghur minority into slave labor camps, and how do American Democrats react?
And, of course, the most egregious case of running cover wasn’t just covering for a nut; the Democrats, for four years, did their best to conceal the fact that their party’s supposed leader, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, was actually a dementia-ridden incompetent. And some Democrats are now complaining because they didn’t do an effective job of lying about that.Why Should You Listen to Me?
Democrats probably shouldn’t listen to me. I don’t have their best interests at heart, and even the dimmest bulb in the Democratic Party can work that out for himself (I’m looking at you, Eric Swalwell). But, as I said, I think the country is probably better off with two mainstream parties, instead of one mainstream party and one wackadoodle party. But that latter is what we have now, and all I can say is that this may be bad for Democrats, but it’s probably good for Republicans. It’s a lot better than it would be the other way around.
