Border Patrol Chief: California Is Not a Sanctuary State

Thursday, the U.S. Border Patrol arrested at least 11 illegal aliens in a raid on a Sacramento, California, Home Depot. At least one of the aliens apprehended had an extensive criminal history. At the same time, a U.S. citizen was also arrested for slashing the tires of a Border Patrol vehicle and was then subjected to the "Find Out" side of that famous equation.

One of the illegals scooped up had no fewer than 67 arrests on his record.

Despite pushback from California officials to federal immigration enforcement, Border Patrol in Sacramento arrested 11 illegal migrants during a tense raid at a Home Depot parking lot on Thursday — including one man with 67 prior jail bookings in California since 1986 and a prior fentanyl trafficking conviction.
Fox News was on scene as the migrants scattered in all directions when federal agents moved in to make arrests in the sanctuary city.
That triggered multiple foot chases and several physical encounters between masked agents and fleeing migrants.

The most notable aspect of this incident, however, was the statement made by the local Border Patrol chief. Gregory Bovino is the U.S. Border Patrol chief for the El Centro Sector, and while speaking with Fox News' Bill Melugin, Bovino pointed out that, protestations from the left aside, as a matter of federal immigration law, there are no sanctuary jurisdictions.

"There is no sanctuary city, Sacramento is not a sanctuary city, the state of California is not a sanctuary state, there is no sanctuary anywhere," Bovino said. "We’ll be here, you’ll probably see us in many other locations as well. We’re here to stay, we’re not going anywhere. We’re going to effect this mission and secure the homeland."

In other words, enforcing federal law as it is. This isn't optional. The law can be changed, but it can't be ignored. People who, for whatever reason, crossed our borders illegally and remain in the country illegally can and should be detained and removed. Local jurisdictions, be they municipal or state governments, cannot declare a "sanctuary" from the Border Patrol, ICE, or Homeland Security's enforcement of existing federal immigration law.

That's Chief Bovino's message.

And here's one of the people he's talking about:

The migrant with 67 prior jail bookings is Mexican national Javier Dimas-Alcantara, who is an aggravated felon with convictions and charges spanning decades.
His criminal history includes multiple instances of transporting and selling narcotics or controlled substances, felony burglary, possession of a controlled narcotic with intent to sell, carrying a loaded firearm in public and multiple felony-level marijuana possession charges for sale.
He's also been arrested for illegal entry, revocation of probation due to reoffending, multiple instances of providing false identification to law enforcement, multiple cases of narcotic possession and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

This is the kind of person that the Democratic supermajority in Sacramento wants to protect. This is the kind of person that Governor Gavin Newsom is objecting to the Border Patrol and ICE detaining and removing from our country. This is the kind of person that leftist protestors and, yes, rioters are seeking to protect.

These are the lines that have been drawn. And, yes, this is what we voted for.

Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
