Just when you thought the legacy media couldn't sink any deeper, CNN steps up and says, "Hold my beer." The latest in a long series of eye-rollers comes from CNN political commentator Bakari Sellers, who is suggesting there may be some reason to look into revoking the citizenship statuses of all of President Trump's kids.
They're all American citizens, of course, and there's no reason to change that. Sellers is just delivering another dose of hot air, propelled by a gastric system suffering from late-stage Trump Derangement Syndrome.
CNN political commentator Bakari Sellers asked why people aren’t investigating the Trump family’s citizenship status while discussing the White House’s ongoing deportation efforts on Tuesday.
People aren't investigating the Trump family because there's no reason to. They're all citizens. None of them are terrorists, none of them are delivering public rants condemning Jews, Israel, or the United States. Sellers is only bringing this up because he disagrees with the president's policies. That's not grounds for a citizenship investigation, or to look into revoking said citizenship, which, in any case, is done on naturalized citizens, not citizens by birth.
Sellers took part in a panel on “CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip” on the topic of the Trump administration attempting to revoke the citizenship of naturalized Americans who commit crimes.
The panel referenced a recent memo from the Justice Department dated June 11 that directed U.S. attorneys to “prioritize and maximally pursue denaturalization proceedings” as part of an effort by the Trump administration to crack down on crime.
To crack down on crime. As in, people who came to the United States, sought and obtained citizenship, perhaps under false pretenses, then proceeded to have criminal careers.
None of President Trump's kids has done any of these things.
While accusing President Donald Trump of refusing to give immigrants “the benefit of their humanity,” Sellers suggested people needed to “have a full conversation” about the Trump family’s legal status.
“Look, if we want to have a conversation about who belongs where, when, how, and whether or not their citizenship status- and we want to look at everything, I mean, I would look at Donald Trump Jr.,” Sellers said. “I would look at all of Melania‘s kids, all of Ivana‘s kids. I mean, let‘s just have a full conversation over who belongs here, how did they get here, their citizenship status.”
Here's what that full citizenship conversation would look like, in a sane world:
"What's the citizenship status of President Trump's kids?"
"They're all American citizens by birth."
"OK. Guess we're done."
But leave it to CNN to bring in a nut with Stage IV Trump Derangement Syndrome, who is apparently incapable of taking five minutes to look up what it takes to revoke one's American citizenship, and to whom it may be done.

Want details? Here they are.
President Trump was born an American citizen in New York in 1946.
His first wife, Ivana, was a legal immigrant from Czechoslovakia (as was), born in 1949. She became an American citizen in 1988. Her children with President Trump are Donald Jr., born in 1977 in Manhattan; Ivana, born in 1981, also in Manhattan; and Eric, born in 1984 in New York City. All of them were born American citizens, born in the United States, with a natural-born American citizen as father.
His second wife, Marla Maples, was born in 1963 in Georgia, making her a natural-born American citizen. Her child with President Trump, Tiffany, is likewise an American citizen by birth.
His third and current wife, Melania, was born in Yugoslavia (now Slovenia) in 1970. She became an American citizen in 2006. Her son Barron Trump was born in 2006 in New York. Like the three eldest Trump children, he was born an American citizen in the United States, with a natural-born American citizen as his father.
There is no question as to their citizenship status, and no reason to seek to revoke that citizenship, which, once again, they have had since birth.
I expect Bakari Sellers knows all this. He is engaging in the very worst form of yellow journalism, and CNN should take him to task for it - but, as the saying goes, "This is CNN."
