Trump's Newest Task for Former U.S. Attorney Nominee Ed Martin Is Sure to Cause a Schiff-Storm

Anthony Fauci, Adam "Barney Google" Schiff, and Hunter Biden are probably starting to sweat just a little. Ed Martin, previously the interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, has a new job at the Justice Department. President Trump has him working as a pardon attorney, and Mr. Martin plans to look into Joe Biden's last-minute pardons. Presumably he'll be looking into which of these may have been signed by autopen, and how much (or how little) then-President Biden knew about them.

It's going to be fun to watch.

On his last full day as interim U.S. attorney for the District, Ed Martin on Tuesday said he will review the pardons issued by President Joe Biden and the actions of prosecutors in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot cases as he shifts to new roles in the Justice Department.

It's as yet to be announced precisely what will be examined in the review of pardons, but given Joe Biden's known mental state, as well as other health issues more recently announced, it would seem some scrutiny should be applied. Some key questions needing answers may include:

How many of the pardons were signed, not by the then-president, but by an autopen?

How many of the pardons did President Biden personally approve? All? Some? None?

If any were signed by autopen, a tool normally used primarily for ceremonial items, why use the tool rather than have the actual president sign?

The real head-scratcher will be the legal significance of any questionable pardons. The Constitution gives the president wide pardon powers, and pardons, once signed, are final; there is no appeal and no recourse. The Constitution doesn't include any mechanism for revoking a pardon, not even by the president who issued it. A fraudulently issued pardon, though? To my knowledge, this hasn't happened before, and the bar of proof would necessarily be very high.

Mr. Martin himself said about the pardons:

“I think that no one with a standard sort of reasonableness thinks that what Joe Biden did at the end of this term was particularly reasonable,” Martin said. “I do think that the Biden pardons need some scrutiny. I do think we’re going to take a hard look at how they went and what they did and if they’re, I don’t know, null and void, I’m not sure how that operates.”

That will be a difficult task indeed.

Hur Interview, Joe Biden's Decline Are Raising Serious Questions for GOP About the Autopen, Pardons

Still, for the last several years, we've been in governmental terra incognita. We've seen ginned-up indictments of, and midnight raids made on the home of a former president; we've seen two perfectly ridiculous impeachments on that president, one taking place illegally after he left office; we've seen two assassination attempts on that same president. Meanwhile, the opposing party imposed on us a besotted, befuddled old man whose health, we are now learning, was in fact worse than we thought. They attempted to replace him with a cackling incompetent. Why? Because the first president, Donald Trump, presented a threat to the established order, and the others, President Biden and Vice President Harris, were easily managed by that established order.

So, yes, a cold, hard look at those pardons is in order. Even if they cannot be revoked, the American people need to know the whole story behind them. And if it makes Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Anthony Fauci, Hunter Biden, and Adam Schiff a little nervous, so much the better. They've got it coming.

The Deep State is working overtime to subvert President Trump's agenda and the will of the people.
