After an eventful week, it already seems President Trump has been back in office for a long time. He's gotten a lot done in four days and barely got his feet under him. When you compare his activity level to his predecessor, it's even more remarkable.
Oh, and as to the predecessor, it was reportedly a guy named Joe Biden. Remember Joe Biden? Granted, he's eminently forgettable. But Democrats haven't forgotten him yet; not his disastrous term that they are still trying to spin as a strange species of success, his insistence on staying in the election against Donald Trump until his horrendous, pathetic debate performance finally sealed the dementia deal, and then his endorsement of the one candidate in the Democratic party who could have fared even worse in the general election.
Now, no less a Democrat strategist than James Carville is, effectively, telling Joe Biden to shut up and go away.
Democratic strategist James Carville hopes that former President Joe Biden can help his party by getting out of the way, since "no one wants to hear from" him anymore.
"Well, this is the kind of truth of where we are," Carville said to his "Politics War Room" podcast co-host Al Hunt on Wednesday. "We all know Biden. Actually, you and I know him personally. And I think it’s fair to say that we’re long-time, at some level, admirers of Joe Biden. What he’s done to himself is, no one wants to hear from this guy anymore, OK?"
He added, "Just go to your condo in Rehoboth and stay there. And that’s not because we’re bad people, or we’re mean people. It was all his doing, all his doing, this entire thing."
Well, he's not completely wrong. A lot of this was Joe Biden's doing. But not all of it.

The simple fact that Carville won't admit is that Joe Biden was always the wrong guy for the job. Even though Biden had been campaigning for the top job since the 1980s, lusting after the Oval Office as a wolf lusts after a sheep, he was always the worst possible guy to hold that chair. He was always corrupt, venal, and honestly, not very smart. His family's influence-peddling shenanigans were notorious since he was a senator, and as for his last, horrible campaign, that was only the icing on something that was the complete opposite of a cake. The result? A former president of the United States is generally considered his party's leader until a replacement is nominated in the next presidential election cycle, but nobody in the Democratic Party is looking to Joe Biden to lead anything. That's as it should be; in his current state, Joe Biden couldn't lead a bear to a garbage dump.
Carville called out Biden’s refusal to leave the 2024 race earlier and his recent claim that he could have beaten President Donald Trump if he stayed.
"And this kind of petty back and forth, ‘Oh I would have beat Trump,’ and no one f---ing believes that at all. Then fighting with Jill Biden and Alexandra Pelosi," Carville said, referencing Nancy Pelosi’s daughter calling out the former first lady for attacking her mother’s role in Biden eventually stepping down.
The former Bill Clinton advisor continued to call Biden "one of the most tragic stories of American politics in my lifetime" but added any future role he plays in the future would be a negative one.
To James Carville, I will only say this:
James, let's be honest: Joe Biden's entire career has been negative, but that's not all on him. Yes, his influence-peddling and corruption while a senator and vice president were inarguable and obvious - but the Democratic Party looked the other way. The Democrats nominated him for the presidency despite his corruption, his creeping senility, and his family's insistence that he was fine, that everything was just hunky dory. You accepted his remaining in the White House even as his condition grew worse. You allowed the White House staff to streamline his schedule, to minimize his public appearances, to carefully stage-manage events where you couldn't keep him away from the cameras. You were silent when Joe Biden's staff was calling lids at 10 a.m., in time for Joe's pudding cup and morning nap; you were silent when he spent more time sitting in a lounge chair on Rehoboth Beach than in the White House.
Until that disastrous debate - until you couldn't hide Joe Biden's creeping mental and physical deterioration anymore.
So, don't blame Joe Biden. Don't blame him for staying in the race too long; it was because of Democrat stage-managing of his every public appearance that he was able to do so. Don't blame him for pushing for the anointing of the execrable Queen of Word Salads as his replacement; you could have made an uproar at the Democratic National Convention and demanded an open convention, but you did not. The simple fact is that you probably would have lost the 2024 election no matter what; it is clearly Trump's year. But if you and your fellow Democrats, all of you, want to know who to blame for the scale of the catastrophic defeat you have just discovered, then the best thing you can do - all of you - is to look in the mirror.
