'Tis the season for the Left to turn everything holy and good into a crass political display. We expect this from the overly-pierced green-hairs out there whose religion it is to destroy society, but it's a tad alarming when the source of the desecration is a supposed Catholic church.
Saint Susanna Catholic Church in the Boston suburb of Dedham, Massachusetts, is raising eyebrows for all the wrong reasons. Like many Christian communities, they're marking the Christmas season with a Nativity display on parish property; the baby Jesus is the reason for the season, after all, and it's good to celebrate the birth of the Savior whilst also putting your faith on display to your neighbors.
Here's the thing, though – baby Jesus, along with Mary and Joseph, is nowhere to be found in St. Susanna's Nativity display. Instead, the key players in the Christmas Story are replaced with a message reading: "ICE was here." There's also a handy-dandy phone number to the local "immigrant justice" center included, presumably, to help illegals evade federal law enforcement.
“ICE was here,” a large sign accompanying the empty manger at St. Susanna Parish said. “The Holy Family is safe in the Sanctuary of our Church. If you see ICE, please call LUCE.”

Father Stephen Josoma, pastor of St. Susanna, said it was his parish's tradition to use its Nativity scene as a way to "hold the mirror up to what’s happening, and this year, it seemed to be, my God, it seemed to be right there in front of us." Fr. Josoma also remarked that ICE was targeting churches in the area this holiday season and his congregation was working to resettle "immigrants."
“They’ve done everything that they’re supposed to do, but their status could be in jeopardy, and some of our people would be in danger being killed if they did go back,” Josoma said. “It’s a cruel policy, and we can do a lot better as a country dealing with the many issues that face us.”
It's all apparently the work of the parish's Peace and Justice group, which seems to decide annually that the church's Nativity scene should be blighted with messages about things like gun control and climate change. Curiously, according to internet searches done by RedState, these obscene displays seem to have begun during President Trump's first term, took a four-year hiatus during "Catholic" President Biden's term, and have now made a reappearance during Trump 2.0.

We were unable to find any evidence that Fr. Josoma and the parishioners of St. Susanna have ever chosen to highlight the topic of abortion in its Christmas display, surely a more appropriate message for the manger.
It's not the first time we've seen baby Jesus and his Nativity used as a political ploy. Just last year, the late Pope Francis gave the go-ahead for a Vatican Nativity scene that showed the baby Jesus swaddled in a "Palestinian" keffiyeh. The appalling display was eventually removed, but it was a stark reminder that even institutions like the Catholic Church aren't immune to getting sucked into the leftist hivemind.
It's way past time for the Catholic Church to have, well, a "come to Jesus" moment over illegal immigration. Pope Leo failed to provide clarity to the faithful in recent remarks when he did the whole "nations are allowed to enforce their laws, but deportation is bad" song and dance.
