Tom Homan Takes Catholic Bishops to School After They Release Video Attacking Immigration Policy

On Wednesday, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops issued a video attacking the Trump administration's immigration policy.

In the message, the bishops stated unequivocally, "We oppose the indiscriminate mass deportation of people. We pray for an end to dehumanizing rhetoric and violence, whether directed at immigrants or at law enforcement.

"We are disturbed when we see among our people a climate of fear and anxiety around questions of profiling and immigration enforcement. We are saddened by the state of contemporary debate and the vilification of immigrants. We are concerned about the conditions in detention centers and the lack of access to pastoral care."

One bishop claimed he is troubled by threats against churches and schools.

It sounds like they've swallowed all the Democrats' propaganda points in that one video.

It isn't "indiscriminate" - it's enforcing the law. "Questions of profiling' - from people on the left pushing an agenda, but where's the actual profiling? What threats against churches and schools? They do that thing that leftists/liberal media do, saying 'immigrants" as opposed to "illegal aliens" - which is an insult to legal immigrants.

They say they advocate for "meaningful reform" - Trump did that by securing the border, which Joe Biden left wide open, exacerbating the problem. Where was the concern for all the human trafficking under Biden that Trump stopped by his actions? Where was the concern about the kids who were lost under Biden, and who the Trump team has now been tracking down? Where's the concern about all the people hurt by illegal immigration? Where's the video for them? Where's the recognition that the people voted for the law to be enforced?

This is woeful ignorance, which will only help the leftists' attacks and the demonizing of ICE, although one bishop throws in that he has an issue with violence against law enforcement, too. And I have to say, I'm a bit disturbed as a Catholic at the use of Our Lady of Guadalupe at the end of the video as sort of an endorsement of their political comment.

As CatholicVote, a conservative Catholic group, observed, what these bishops are saying is not a required belief; it is the opinion of these bishops on politics.

"The responsibility to regulate borders for the sake of the common good is not a caveat tacked onto an otherwise humanitarian manifesto; it is an integral part of Catholic doctrine," said Reinhardt. "This is not a secondary or peripheral concern. As we argue, it is precisely the collapse of lawful order — not merely private prejudice — that has created the conditions in which exploitation flourishes, cartels thrive, and millions of migrants are pushed into a shadow-world without legal recourse or clear prospects.

"The point, put bluntly, is this: a nation cannot honor the dignity of immigrants if it has effectively abandoned the rule of law under which immigrants might be protected."

CatholicVote supported Trump in 2024.

Then Border Czar Tom Homan delivered a schooling to the bishops. He said the bishops are telling people "don't worry about it' if they cross the border illegally and if a judge orders their removal, because the bishops don't like mass deportations.

How can you enforce the law like that? And of course, that was the problem under Biden; they didn't.

Homan explained if you send that message out, then people are still going to come, and you enrich the criminal cartels involved. "Secure border saves lives," Homan said. "We have a right to secure our borders, like they have a right to secure their facility." I think he's referring to the wall around the Vatican that protects the offices, gardens, etc.

Homan said we have a more secure border because of the message that ICE is sending: don't spend your money on the cartels to come because you will be sent back. "I'm saying it not only as the Border Czar, I'll say it as a Catholic, I think they need to spend time fixing the Catholic Church."

Some responding to the bishops' statement thought their words might have something to do with the fact that they've lost a lot of government money that their various organizations dealing with illegal aliens received under Joe Biden.

Bottom line? That's not going to stop the Trump administration from doing what the people voted them in to do.

Editor’s Note: We voted for mass deportations, not mass amnesty. Please help us continue to fight the efforts against the will of the American people.
