Good morning, and welcome to RedState's "Morning Minute" — a brief glimpse at which stories are trending at the moment and a look ahead at what the day may bring. Consider this your one-stop shop for news to kickstart your day.
TOP O' THE MORNIN'
By continuing to call them out on their lies, their propaganda, and their incitements to hatred and violence, we’re making a difference.
Fly that Trump flag high and experience the "liberation," as Carlson says, of voting for the one man in this presidential race who loves and can save America.
Hulk Hogan Body Slams Dem Narrative at MSG Rally, While JD Vance Finishes Kamala With Just 6 Words
“I don't see no stinking Nazis in here. I don't see no stinking domestic terrorists in here. The only thing I see in here are a bunch of hard-working men and women that are real Americans, brother,” Hulk said.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
Last campaign week for the critters, some of whom are locked in tight battles — will the House flip? Or no?
One Rep. who's not terribly concerned about her seat is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. That allowed her to let her hair down and livestream herself playing video football against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Sunday. Ain't we got fun?
White House What's Up
President Joe Biden starts off his Monday in Wilmington, Delaware, where he's scheduled to cast his early vote late morning. (Who do you suppose he'll choose for president?!) Then he'll head back to the White House, where he'll thank active duty and National Guard service members who assisted in Hurricane Helene response in North Carolina. After that, he'll get on the horn with elected officials from the affected states (both from Helene and Milton) to discuss ongoing recovery efforts. In the late afternoon/early evening, he'll deliver remarks at an event celebrating Diwali.
The Homestretch
Vice President Kamala Harris will spend her Monday campaigning in Michigan, delivering remarks at campaign events in Saginaw, Macomb County, and Ann Arbor before returning to Washington, D.C. Second (not a) Gentleman Doug Emhoff will appear at a campaign event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Monday evening. First Lady Jill Biden is appearing at campaign events in Traverse City and Bay City in Michigan and LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Walz will be in Waukesha and Manitowoc, Wisconsin, to encourage early voting. He'll join Harris at her Ann Arbor rally Monday evening.
It will be awfully hard to top Sunday's rally at Madison Square Garden — but I don't think former President Donald Trump needs to. He just needs to take that momentum and run through the tape. Monday night, he'll rally in Atlanta, Georgia. Running mate Sen. JD Vance (OH) delivers remarks in Wausau, Wisconsin, Monday afternoon. The Trump bus tour and other surrogates, like West Virginia Governor Jim Justice (and Babydog!), are rolling through Pennsylvania on Monday.
Full Court Press...
The judge in Sean "Diddy" Combs' criminal case in the Southern District of New York has entered a gag order prohibiting all involved from disclosing grand jury material.
Trump's legal team has sought leave to file an additional motion to dismiss the criminal case against him brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith in D.C.
The Fourth Circuit sided with the Department of Justice in its tussle with Virginia to reinstate non-citizen voters onto its voter rolls. Virginia is appealing to the Supreme Court. (More on that later this morning.)
MORNING MUSING
I think we're all feeling a fair amount of anxiety — in general, but particularly as we close in on Election Day. Sadly, this speaks to the ridiculous amount of power we've ceded to the federal government (and, specifically, the presidency), but it's where we are at present. That said, the little Snoopy cartoon below reminded me of something important: Do not be anxious.
LIGHTER FARE
Ran across this first thing this morning, and it reminded me of something important (see the Morning Musing above):
