They're still gearing up for next week BUT...there is actually a congressional hearing today. It's a field hearing in Lahaina, Hawaii. The House Oversight and Accountability Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce is holding a hearing on “Assessing the Federal Government’s Response to the 2023 Maui Wildfires.”

Meanwhile, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) is subpoenaing Secretary of State Antony Blinken to testify before the committee on September 19 regarding the botched U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

White House What's Up

President Joe is back to laying low. Nothing on the schedule for Wednesday other than his Daily Briefing and a Karine Jean-Pierre press conference in the afternoon.

The Homestretch

Vice President Kamala Harris is heading to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, for a campaign event Wednesday afternoon. Her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, will be heading to Pennsylvania for stops/events in Lancaster, Pittsburgh, and Erie.

Former President Donald Trump has his town hall event in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with Sean Hannity on Fox News Wednesday evening. Running mate Sen. JD Vance (OH) will be in Mesa, Arizona, for a Turning Point Action event.

It was 54 degrees when I took the dog out this morning and I am not pleased. I need more Summer. I'll take 95 degrees and humid over chilly any old day. Yes, I said it. I know we're supposed to start feeling all ooey and gooey about crisp fall nights and colorful leaves and bonfires and pumpkin spice. Not me. Give me my sunshine and sunflowers and my lazy days at the pool. I'm a Summer girl. Always have been; always will be.
