TOP O' THE MORNIN'
The leader of the free world, and he appears to be run by unnamed staffers and people behind the scenes.
There's a word that rhymes with "boring" that I could use here to describe Joe's and Mika's actions in a political context, but I won't. I'm sure our astute readers can figure it out though.
BLOODBATH: Mass Layoffs at the RNC; More Than 60 Staffers Will Be Let Go (UPDATED)
Immediately following her election as co-chair of the Republican National Committee Friday, Lara Trump promised that she and new chair Michael Whatley weren't going to waste any time getting the organization into shape. That was evident Monday at RNC headquarters, where "dozens of officials" are being pushed out, according to Politico.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
Big story Tuesday is: The House Judiciary hearing regarding Special Counsel Robert Hur's report. Hur will be testifying before the committee beginning at 10:00 am Eastern.
Obviously, that's the biggest game in town on Tuesday, but there are other hearings set:
- Senate Armed Services - Hearings to examine global security challenges and U.S. strategy
- Senate Judiciary - Hearings to examine voting rights in America
- House Intelligence (Permanent Select) - 2024 Annual Threat Assessment
- House Financial Services - Mission Critical: Restoring National Security as the Focus of Defense Production Act Reauthorization
- House Oversight and Accountability - “The Power Struggle: Examining the Reliability and Security of America’s Electrical Grid”
- House Armed Services - U.S. Military Posture and National Security Challenges in North and South America
- House Foreign Affairs - Going Nuclear on Rosatom: Ending Global Dependence on Putin's Nuclear Energy Sector
- House Armed Services - U.S. and Adversary Hypersonic Capabilities
White House What's Up
President Joe Biden starts out the day with a campaign meeting with the Teamsters. Later in the day, he'll host President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland.
Of Primary Concern
It's not Super Tuesday (and there's not a ton of suspense left in the mix) but there are several presidential primaries taking place today:
- Georgia
- Mississippi
- Washington
- Hawaii (GOP only)
RedState will bring you the live results Tuesday evening.
MORNING MUSING
Was just thinking it's interesting that Special Counsel Robert Hur, whose report essentially absolved Joe Biden from criminal responsibility for the inappropriate retention and mishandling of classified documents due to his being a forgetful, sympathetic, elderly man whom a jury likely wouldn't convict, will be testifying just a few days after Joe Biden's shouty/ranty State of the Union Address. It presents an interesting juxtaposition, no? I think Judiciary includes my favorite collection of personalities, too. Expect this one to be...spicy.
