'Little Man' Abdul El-Sayed Tells on Himself in Cringe Football Attack on Mike Rogers

A few months into Abdul El-Sayed's Michigan Senate campaign, RedState wrote about how the Democrat seemed awfully keen on scrubbing his social media history, where he repeatedly advocated Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) positions like defunding the police.

As CNN of all places noted at the time, the DSA-backed Senate nominee "deleted his entire X history sometime before launching his Senate campaign in April [2025], a move that highlights how progressive Democrats once aligned with 'defund' policies are now distancing themselves from a slogan that remains deeply unpopular with voters."

More recently, we learned that El-Sayed tried to do a bit of a clean-up on some YouTube videos from his time as a podcaster, where he argued in one of them in favor of getting rid of the 2nd Amendment. And in a resurfaced Substack article, El-Sayed took aim at football - which he played in high school - writing, "the toxic masculinity at the heart of America’s most popular sport - and men’s sports culture more generally - is way deeper than a few emails or a Jay-Z turnaround."

In a state like Michigan, football is king, and El-Sayed's GOP opponent, Trump-backed former Congressman Mike Rogers, wasted no time in calling him out over those remarks and others:

You can almost hear a collective gasp across Michigan for all the things he spends time hating on. I mean, when I go back, I want to make sure we're protecting our faith and our families and our factories and our freedoms, while he's advocating doing away with our fireworks, football, the Fourth of July.
This guy spent hours hating on what most Michiganders would enjoy in their pastimes, and he should be held to account for that. These are views that he held, that he was pretty strong about, but he knew that he had to delete them all, [because] if people really knew who he was, they wouldn't vote for him. It's just a matter of making sure that we have the resources and people that are out there fighting [for] what I think is the heart and soul of the country in this particular race.

El-Sayed saw it and filed a hurt feelings report, because apparently threatening violence against a man 20 years older than him will prove to people that he really does love football.

"Since you’re too afraid to debate me, how about you 'hold me accountable' on a football field instead," poor little El-Sayed scribbled Wednesday morning on X, so angry he left words out. "Tackle, no pads like we used to play when we were kids. I’d be happy to show you much I love football."

Now, Mike Rogers is a big guy, an Army veteran, and former FBI special agent. There's no doubt he could more than hold his own in a match-up with El-Sayed. But beyond the not-so-veiled threat to physically hurt his opponent, think about what El-Sayed did just there.

This is basically a physical threat to a political opponent who is old enough to be your dad. Being able to tackle a 63 year old doesn’t prove you love football. Maybe you’re trying to separate yourself from your toxic masculinity comments by exhibiting them yourself?

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has been a persistent critic of El-Sayed, who recently compared him to an ogre and called him an "a***ole." In turn, Fetterman has suggested El-Sayed "has like this weird little man syndrome energy just going around insulting people." I'm beginning to think he has a point.

You know, if you have to work this hard, go this low, to "prove" you love football, much in the way one who is sorely lacking in other areas tries to go about "proving" they are a "real" man, then maybe what they're claiming about you is true. Just sayin'.
