Republican commentators, writers, members of Congress, and the Trump administration can talk all day long about the dangers of illegal immigration, but it hits different when the message comes from Angel Families who have lost loved ones as a result of an illegal immigrant's actions, whether intentional or not.
We wrote recently, for example, about a recent congressional hearing that focused on victims of criminal illegal immigrants as a result of sanctuary city policies. Three Angel Moms were there to speak on behalf of their children. Two of the mothers had to say goodbye to their respective loved ones. The third mom's daughter was severely injured from a car accident to the point she is "minimally conscious, nonverbal," needs 24-7 care, and a crane to lift her out of bed.
One of the Angel Moms, Laura Wilkerson, whose 18-year-old son, Joshua, was murdered in 2010, said it so well to the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee, telling them that no one should get "sanctuary" from the law, including illegal immigrants, and noting that it was astonishing they even had to be there "begging you to obey the laws that y'all made."
The powerful statements of an Angel Family member are words no one should ever forget, which is one reason why Angel Dad Joe Abraham, an Illinois resident, has such a bone to pick with both of Illinois' Democrat Senators - Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, both of whom, as we've previously reported, have shown little more than indifference to Abraham's story of the tragic loss of his 20-year-old daughter, Katie, who was killed instantly in a January 2025 car accident involving an illegal immigrant.
Abraham, in fact, called Durbin out to his face in a congressional hearing held in late March, as we also reported at the time:

Abraham, God bless him, is po'd father who will not give up. On X Thursday, he caught wind of Durbin's announcement of a meeting with a Latino group, where the mission was to further plot ideas to try to thwart President Trump's immigration agenda.
Mr. Abraham did not hold back, sharing a message that should be repeated over and over again from now until November, because even though Durbin is retiring at the end of this term, there are many more Democrats like him still in office or who are running for office who share the same views:

He has far more compassion for those who break the rules to enter our nation than for the innocent Americans left behind to bury their children.
That moment told me everything about Dick Durbin. Beneath the bipartisan image is a career politician driven by ideology, power, and political theater—not moral courage. For families like ours, victims like Katie are treated as collateral damage in his calculus.
Illinois deserves better. Voters should remember who stood with grieving families—and who didn’t.
