Chuck Schumer Hardest Hit As Results of 'Resist' Campaign Against Trump Come to Light

2025 has not been a good year for Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

Once President Donald Trump was back on the scene and DOGE advisor Elon Musk began tearing into the rampant waste, fraud, and abuse at federal agencies, Schumer cranked up the Resistance efforts. For instance, he joined Rep. "Mad Maxine" Waters (D-CA) and other unhinged Democrats in protests designed to whip mobs of supporters into a frenzy against Trump and Musk, wildly chanting "we will win!"

But it didn't work. Trump and Musk forged ahead.

Schumer campaigned against the Trump/GOP continuing resolution, but at the 11th hour, he caved, infuriating Democrats to the point that he had to cancel book tour dates, and talk began of a 2028 primary challenge in the form of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) - who, I should note, has not said one way or the other what she'll do.

In a mid-March interview, Schumer shared that his goal was to tear Trump down enough so that his approval numbers would go below 40 percent and Congressional Republicans would supposedly start working with Democrats:

The last time he was president, which is the closest experience we have with him — and admittedly, the world has changed some, particularly on the media side, how it works — we kept pushing and pushing and pushing and chipping away. And when he went below 40 percent in the polls, the Republican legislators started working with us. He was at 51. He’s now at 48. We’re gonna keep at it until he goes below 40.

The problem is that after a brief dip during talk of the tariffs, Trump's numbers are rising again, proof positive of the failure of Schumer's message to gain traction:

It's really amazing when you think about it: the Democrats' and the media's coordinated anti-Trump messaging, which was relentless even before Trump was sworn into office a second time, has borne little to no fruit.

This is especially true not just as it relates to his overall approval ratings but also his ratings among crucial voting blocs like Hispanic voters, which sit at 60 percent even as Democrats and the media wage total war on his border security and deportation policies.

They've thrown everything at Trump, including the kitchen sink, and they still haven't been able to take him down.  These numbers won't stop them from trying, of course, but it is going to cause them to get increasingly desperate, which means more mistakes will be made, which hopefully will translate into more opportunities for the GOP in the 2026 midterms.
