Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is probably feeling very lonely right now. After vehemently promising that he wouldn't vote for a continuing resolution needed to keep the government running, he outraged many of his Democrat colleagues on March 13 when he caved at the last minute and said, "Aye." Longtime friend and cohort Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), one of the leaders of the cabal that forced Joe Biden to abandon his reelection campaign, and far-left Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) have been among the loudest critics, with both strongly implying that maybe his sell-by date has passed.
A defiant Schumer appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday, however, and said he's not going anywhere:
Schumer (D-NY), 74, who has been facing a progressive revolt over his shutdown vote earlier this month, reiterated that he “did this out of conviction” and fired back at detractors such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)
“Look, I’m not stepping down,” Schumer told NBC’s “Meet the Press” in a pre-taped interview that aired Sunday. “I did it out of pure conviction as to what a leader should do and what the right thing for America and my party was. People disagree.”
Critics, from both the moderate and far-left wings of the party alike, contended that the government shutdown fight was a rare instance when Dems had leverage to extract concessions from Republicans.

His “pure conviction” has not stopped the criticism, however, as progressives are hell-bent on revenge for his actually making a rare good decision:
At noon on Sunday, New York City progressives are set to hold a rally organized by the Big Apple chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America demanding Schumer step down from his leadership post due to his actions in the shutdown fight.

Chuck may be defiant, but so was Joe Biden when the Grim Reaper Nancy Pelosi came for him. It didn’t turn out well.
But Schumer wasn’t done doling out wisdom for the day: he also brought out the tired arguments that we are in a “constitutional crisis” and it’s…. wait for it… a “threat to Democracy.” Has nobody notified him that the "threat to democracy" playbook just lost badly at the polls in November, and Americans have largely tuned out such hysterical rantings?
Chuck Schumer is on Meet the Press claiming “democracy is at risk” because Trump deported illegal gang members and thinks he is king.

You read that right.
Since when is protecting American citizens a threat to democracy?pic.twitter.com/sdSsQoWAvr
I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Schumer—do not step down, please. Stick around and ensure more infighting among the Democrats and more overheated rhetoric that only wild-eyed leftists listen to, and ensure your poll numbers plunge even further into the tank.
It’s a plan that works for me.
