'60 Minutes' Has Some Explaining to Do After Eye-Opening Edit Discovered on a Kamala Harris Word Salad

We wrote earlier about how the much-anticipated "60 Minutes" interview with Vice President Kamala Harris didn't do her any favors considering it a) further proved points her critics have made about what an empty suit she is and b) was obviously heavily edited to try and make her answers look good, a tactic even some of her defenders noticed.

One of the clips that has gotten a lot of people talking was the teaser video released Sunday that showed the Democrat presidential nominee responding to a statement made by CBS News correspondent Bill Whitaker on how "it seems" in his view "that Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening" to the Biden-Harris administration.

Harris' answer was a word salad full of absolute nonsense.

As it turns out, though, that was... not the answer we got when the "full" interview aired Monday night. Here's the version that aired, courtesy of the transcript and the video that came out Monday:

Bill Whitaker: But it seems that Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening.

Vice President Kamala Harris: We are not gonna stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.

Watch the compare/contrast clips that show the differences:

I mean the edit wasn't just done to the "full" video they posted to YouTube (link here); it was also done to the transcript and the video they posted above the transcript on their website. So if someone hadn't seen the previous clip they previewed the day before, they wouldn't know she'd produced one of her infamous word salads unless they did a little digging.

Why is that? I think the answer is as obvious as it was when "60 Minutes" was caught heavily editing a clip of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2021 over the rollout of the coronavirus vaccine in Florida to make him look like a racist for how and where the rollouts were being conducted.

There's another claim being made on the Twitter/X machine that the answer they added into the "full" version was one she gave to another question in the original short clip (which as of this writing is still on YouTube and Twitter), but I went back and reviewed them and though the answers were similar, that's not what happened.

That being said, this is still a terrible look for CBS News/"60 Minutes" at a time when media trust is already at all-time lows, and they have an obligation to provide their viewers some forthright answers on the question of why the edit was made and on whose authority.
