WATCH: Joe Biden Is Asked About His Inciteful 'Bullseye' Trump Comment, His Answer Just Doesn't Cut It

As RedState previously documented, the mainstream media of course have been in full spin mode in the aftermath of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, as evidenced for instance by how they're making excuses for incendiary rhetoric used by Democrats about Trump, including something said by President Joe Biden just days before the attack.

Biden, as reported by POLITICO, was on a phone call with panicked donors last Monday to try and provide reassurances he was capable of beating the presumptive 2024 GOP presidential nominee when the statement was made.

"I’m absolutely certain I’m the best person to be able to [beat Donald Trump]. So, we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye," Biden stated on the call.

As RedState readers know, in the aftermath of the 2011 assassination attempt on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), Democrats and the media rushed to falsely blame former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. The Anchorage Daily News, for instancepointed “to Sarah Palin’s ‘target list,’ that now infamous graphic featuring a map filled with crosshairs,” including one over Giffords’ Arizona Congressional district.

Amazingly, some media outlets even apologized for the word “crosshairs” used on their programs at the time, saying “We’re trying to get away from using that kind of language.” As we learned rather quickly, though, the shooter's motivations had nothing to do with Palin nor the map.

Fast forward to the present day, and now it's Biden on the hot seat for the heated, inciteful rhetoric he actually has used directly against the former president.

Clips have come out from the interview NBC News anchor Lester Holt did with Biden. In them, Biden is asked about whether or not he has considered that his own rhetoric may have contributed to the problem of violence against elected officials and candidates. In response, Biden pretended that he had been above the fray the whole time, claiming he hadn't done any such thing:

Asked if he’s done “some soul searching” since the assassination attempt about any rhetoric that might unintentionally incite someone to violence, Biden said the threat from his opponent is too stark to ignore.

“How do you talk about the threat to democracy, which is real, when the president says things like he says? Do you just not say something because it may incite somebody?” Biden asked rhetorically.

“I have not engaged in that rhetoric," Biden continued. "My opponent has engaged in that rhetoric.”

Biden then also repeated the lie about Trump's "bloodbath" remarks, leaving out the context of them which naturally would have negated his point.

Watch:

Except he has done just that, and very recently, something Holt pointed out to Biden. His response essentially was to say well at least I didn't use "crosshairs":

Biden said it was a “mistake” to use the word, but dismissed the larger criticism, telling Holt it was merely a figure of speech and saying Trump is the one who has mainstreamed violent rhetoric.

“I didn’t say crosshairs. I said bull's eye. I meant focus on him. Focus on what he’s doing, focus on his policies, focus on the number of lies he told in the debate."

Watch:

I'm sorry but if you're trying to differentiate between the words "bullseye" and "crosshairs," you're grasping at straws, making a distinction without a difference, and have completely lost the argument.

And lost the argument is exactly what Biden and the Democrats have done on the issue of incendiary rhetoric, not just because of what happened to Trump but also because of other examples of Republicans being targeted by deranged wackos:

And let us all remember the demands for aggressive action against Republicans including Trump, and from where they came:

I rest my case.
