President Donald Trump was joined by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser, and Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris in the Oval Office to announce that the nation’s capital will host the 2027 NFL Draft.
The announcement follows Bowser’s recent reveal of plans for the Commanders to return to D.C. with a new stadium at the former RFK Stadium site.
“I’m pleased to reveal that the 2027 NFL draft — that’s a big thing — will be held right here in our Nation’s Capital, Washington, D.C. on the National Mall,” Trump said.
Bowser (D) also touted the announcement as an economic boon for the nation's capital.
“We are delighted to be here with the Washington Commanders, the NFL, and the president to talk about this very exciting announcement for Washington, D.C.,” she said. “We believe in investing in sports because they have helped us transform neighborhoods."
Trump expressed gratitude to Bowser, touting their "close relationship" on the project.
However, the spirit of unity seemed to fall apart when the President began fielding questions, allowing him to riff off script where he typically delivers some of his most incredible gems for the media.
Bowser stood behind Trump, visibly uncomfortable as he ripped his predecessor, Joe Biden, and hammered home on the illegal immigration invasion he is trying to reverse.
This is hysterical🤣 Look at the Mayor of DC’s body language, she’s about to spontaneously combust😆 pic.twitter.com/zr35LQTyVt

Gretchen Whitmer's Very Embarrassing White House Picture Goes Viral
The President was asked about his new self-deportation incentive program for illegals, which includes payments of $1,000 and a free plane ticket out of the country.
"We have millions of people that have come into this country illegally through an administration that didn't know what they were doing. They didn't have a clue," Trump said. "And now we find out officially they didn't because the president was incompetent, but I could have told you that before."
Bowser can be seen in the background repeatedly biting her lip and looking off to the side as if searching for a lifeline to get off stage.
The facial expressions continue as Trump notes that many illegals in the country are serious criminals. They continue when Trump discusses his amusing Pope AI image. No matter what question Trump fields, Bowser is behind him, more distracting than Rudy Giuliani's kid during his inaugural address in 1994.
For many, Bowser's lengthy, awkward appearance reminded viewers of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D), who similarly looked like a hostage while visiting Trump in the Oval Office.
Whitmer's appearance led to one of the most hilarious attempts to avoid being seen with a political adversary as you'll ever see.

Bowser probably wished an aide had handed her a couple of folders to shield herself from the cameras. Instead, she was unable to hide her disdain.
