As we reported, Thursday was a tough day for Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, led by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), voted to hold him in contempt of Congress in a party-line vote, 8-5 (plus two nay votes by proxy), after he invoked the Fifth Amendment over 100 times when they questioned him during a hearing on July 29. Paul then referred the case to the Department of Justice for consideration.

Then, later in the day, Fauci was spotted outside his house with his wife. Neither was a happy camper to have to face the scrutiny of the media. He was sullen-looking; you had to know the negative attention and possible consequences had to be getting to a man who seemed so enamored of attention.
But, as we reported, it was his wife, Christine Grady, who really expressed their disturbance, flipping off a photographer from her car.

"Is this how you plead the fifth in sign language?" Paul queried.
She can flip people off, but the DOJ is still going to be looking into whether to pursue the contempt action against her husband. So they can be sour all they want, but it won't stop that. We'll have to see what, if anything, comes of the referral, or any other actions being contemplated.

So Fauci Is in Contempt – Now What Happens?
What a far cry from when he was celebrated, such as when the New York Times wrote about Fauci's last day in government back in 2022.
The walls in Dr. Anthony S. Fauci’s home office are adorned with portraits of him, drawn and painted by some of his many fans. The most striking one is by the singer Joan Baez. The two of them, he said, “have become pretty good friends over the years.”
Dr. Fauci seemed a little uncomfortable with people knowing about the pictures. He said that previously when they were captured on camera, the “far right” attacked him as an “egomaniac.” If someone goes to the trouble of sending him a portrait of himself, he said, he would “feel like I’m disrespecting them” if he discarded it.
It’s not his narcissism, you see. It’s just that he can’t deny the fans their love for him.
