Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-14) is running for governor of California.
I get that many people in California may vote for a Democrat, but I guess I just can't see why anyone, even Democrats, would vote for someone so bad for the job. If they thought they had it bad under Gov. Gavin Newsom, I think Swalwell could be even worse.
In fact, he hit CNN for an interview with Brianna Keilar and just gave people even more reason why they shouldn't vote for him when she questioned him about the DHS funding fight.
We saw Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) get busted on this question by ABC's Jonathan Karl. Even legacy media seems to have had enough of the narrative that the Democrats have been pushing on this.

Keilar nailed Swawlell on their fiction that they were somehow stopping Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with their fight, since ICE agents got funding last year through the One Big Beautiful Bill. What are you actually gaining if ICE is still going to be funded, either way, she asked him.

“Well, the White House, by funding ICE and CBP, is essentially sanctioning or signing off on more public executions," he claimed, falsely smearing the federal agents.
But she wasn't buying it, and asked him how this was not just symbolic then? Because you're not really stopping them from their enforcement. It's essentially just posturing, and of course, it's wrong to begin with to demonize them.
She really got him when she pointed out that what he was doing was hurting people in California.
“Because at this point you have a lot of people who are paying the price, right? A lot of attention has been paid to TSA. They, of course, are now getting paid because of the executive order.”
“But it’s not just them, right? Civilians in the Coast Guard, they are going without. Many of them in California.”
“How long should they be prepared to work without a paycheck?”
Swalwell rambled on about a case with a young boy, saying it's not symbolic to him. But if in fact ICE were evil — he isn't stopping them. But he is hurting actual citizens of California, the very people he's supposed to represent. Apparently, the citizens are less important than the posturing. And the bottom line is that ICE is enforcing the law to deport illegal aliens, a charge that Congress gave the agency when it was formed.
Keilar asked him how long the Democrats were prepared to take this position. The look on her face was not happy.
Clueless Swalwell then attacked President Donald Trump for caring and paying the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents.
She said, "Let me rephrase it." In other words, answer the question.
But he still kept deflecting. Then she ended the interview.
If you can't even answer such a question from CNN, how are you qualified to be governor of California?
