Boom: Watch As Even Legacy Media Shuts Down a Dem Over Their False DHS Funding Narrative

Democrats have been blocking full funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for 45 days, making it the longest shutdown in history, all over their obsession with attacking Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

That's caused all kinds of issues, most visibly at airports, where long lines formed because hundreds of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees had quit or called in sick because they weren't being paid.

But the Democrats are also blocking funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Coast Guard, and other agencies essential to the nation's defense.

As Border Czar Tom Homan explained, the Democrats are holding the agency hostage because they don't like that ICE is enforcing the laws they enacted. At the same time, he pointed out that they keep demonizing ICE agents, and the threat level keeps going up.

The shutdown has gotten so ridiculous at this point that, in a surprising move, even legacy media was calling Democrats out on their false narratives on the question.

ABC's Jonathan Karl was interviewing Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD). Karl asked him what did the Democrats get out of this DHS shutdown that's been going on for well over a month, "What have you gotten for it?"

Van Hollen responded that ICE was a "lawless operation," and said the Democrats wanted reforms. Not only is that a lie, but then they didn't get that out of the Senate deal that had been made. That deal split ICE off and didn't fund it, but it didn't give them any reforms.

But that's when Karl dropped the truth bomb on him, which Democrats don't like to talk about.

"I guess what’s confusing here is you have fought and blocked the funding for the Department of Homeland Security because you object — as you just outlined — to what ICE has been doing, and you wanted to force changes. And yet, the only thing that has been assured throughout all of this is that ICE already has the money. Because as you said, $75 billion passed in the budget bill last year. So you’re holding up the entirety of the Department of Homeland Security because you object to ICE and you want changes to ICE, but through it all, ICE continues to have the money."

They don't want to talk about that because they want to play this game for their leftist base, like they're stopping ICE, when they're not. The very thing they claim they're objecting to — the enforcement part of ICE is already funded, although the civilian support staff isn't.

Van Hollen said they didn't want to give ICE any more money and again falsely accuses them of "lawless operations."

But Karl nailed him, "And fighting over that additional $10 billion, you are—you are holding up the rest of the Department of Homeland Security."

"We're not holding it up," Van Hollen claimed.

"You’re holding up unless it doesn’t include money for ICE. That’s just a fact," Karl said, finishing him off.

Meanwhile, the shutdown goes on as the House GOP is now trying to get a 60-day stopgap measure through. But this is all on the Democrats for putting us in this situation, and as this shows, it's not even about them stopping ICE; it's all just about them posturing for their base. For this, they would put us all at risk.

Editor’s Note: ICE and CBP continue to put themselves in harm's way in order to protect America’s sovereignty and to keep our streets safe.
