For more than ten years, the Democrats have been trying to take down President Donald Trump.
They haven't succeeded, with Trump prevailing, despite all their efforts, from trying to kick him off ballots and impeachment to targeting him with investigations and prosecution.
They've been petty in the extreme. Who can forget this ridiculous moment?

The Schumer Shutdown was another example of this. It was a dumb idea to begin with, because Democrats would ultimately have to cave in the end. It was just a question as to what they would get. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) thought that they could lay the blame on Trump and the Republicans, which would make them look bad, and they would ultimately get what they wanted.
But they didn't. Trump and Republicans refused to back down. Their messaging about who was behind the shutdown was good and true, while Democrats just kept lying. They were so obviously false, they even had the liberal media calling them out as to who was behind the shutdown.
All Democrats ultimately got was the offer of a Senate vote on an extension of the enhanced ACA subsidies. But they were offered that early in the shutdown; they didn't need to go for more than 40 days. And that doesn't mean much since it's unlikely to produce anything, and the House hasn't guaranteed anything. So they hurt a lot of people and hurt the country, but got nothing.
The Democrats lost...badly, as Schumer's gambit failed.
The collapse of Chuck Schumer’s shutdown gambit, when seven fellow Democrats and one independent broke ranks with him, serves as a humiliating bookend to the longest government closure ever.
It also simultaneously highlights one of President Trump’s most sweeping and crucial Washington victories over his most toxic opponents. [....]
And now he has turned the tables on them in devastating fashion, with Schumer likely to be dethroned as Senate minority leader and Pelosi packing her money bags to leave Washington for good.
Of course, it was a difficult gambit to sustain to pretend it was the Republicans who were behind the shutdown when the Democrats kept voting to keep the government closed. And it just made Schumer look awful: either he couldn't hold the Democrats together on this pointless quest, or he let the eight who caved cave, and he voted no, so he could cover himself.
Now, Schumer is on the block with his party, with people like Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17) not only calling for him to be replaced, but the leftist group Indivisible saying they will try to primary people who would support him for leader.
As I reported earlier, Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) also spoke about primarying people when asked if Schumer should stay on as leader. She ripped Schumer over the capitulation and said they came away with nothing. So Schumer just gave more gas to the anger against him, with his bad play.

On top of Schumer facing retribution from his party and former Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA-11) with one foot out the door, the bad gambit also exposed how badly Obamacare was functioning, proving what Trump and the Republicans had been saying about it for years. It exposed how it was being propped up with subsidies, and how the premiums were still skyrocketing. Hardly "affordable" care. Yet Democrats wanted to just continue enhanced subsidies that they set to end at the end of this year.
They wanted a vote, and that, too, will prompt more discussion of just how bad Obamacare is. Thanks, Democrats!
But, as Pelosi prepares to exit and Schumer may face the wrath of his party, guess who's still standing, having defeated them, yet again? They keep trying, but Trump is going to be there for three more years, while they continue to whine and implode all over each other.
