On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was answering questions about President Donald Trump's renovations to the White House. She was asked specifically if he was looking at any other renovations beyond the ballroom and the rose garden. She responded that the ballroom was the main priority. It provides the White House complex with the event space that was needed.
But a leftist influencer twisted that to imply it was Trump's "main priority," without mentioning the context (other possible renovations at the White House). Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer then twisted the comment and spread it to deceive people.

As we reported, the Trump Rapid Response team then eviscerated him for the misleading post.

Schumer continued to lie about what was said.

It’s hard to wrap your mind around it because of how callous it is.
But that’s what White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt actually said. Out loud. To press. Proudly.
But wonder of wonders, guess who else nailed Schumer? As our sister site Townhall observed, even CNN's fact checker Daniel Dale nailed Schumer and the other Democrats who had spread this claim.
A reporter asked press secretary Karoline Leavitt at a Thursday briefing: “In addition to the ballroom and the Rose Garden patio, is the president looking at any other renovations or significant kind of projects here at the White House?”
Leavitt responded: “Not to my knowledge, no. But he’s a builder at heart, clearly. And so his heart and his mind is always churning about how to improve things here on the White House grounds. But at this moment in time, of course, the ballroom is really the president’s main priority.”
So Leavitt was clearly referring to the planned new ballroom as Trump’s main priority for White House renovations. But on social media, various Democratic members of Congress have cut out the first part of the exchange to make it sound like she was saying the ballroom was Trump’s overall main priority.

She's right, it's truly egregious when even Daniel Dale feels he has to say something.
The Trump Rapid Response team also got another jab at Schumer's motivation for all this.

Oof, they got him there. That's why Schumer has shifted into higher gear to attack Trump - he's afraid he's going to lose his seat if he doesn't hold onto the leftist base. But his actions are silly, because this isn't going to get them back, and it's going to cost him the center because of his extremist positions.
Democrats are so over the line at this point with their meltdown and lies on the renovations and the Schumer Shutdown that they can't even hold onto the media. As we reported, a CNBC reporter nailed House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries over their excuse about the Obamacare subsidies, and even ABC's Jon Karl said the Democrats were to blame for the shutdown.
